Art Project #80- Charcoal Drawings

I realized the other week that I had never introduced my boys to using charcoal for drawing!  I thought they might enjoy learning about this new medium.

In searching for some easy charcoal drawing ideas I found this easy to follow YouTube video that I figured we could use together. Often I teach the boys by drawing or painting my design first and having them mimic me.  I really liked the idea of having them listen and follow someone else's instructions for once.

It was such a fun addition to our 100 Days of Art Challenge.

We started by sketching a rough outline of where we wanted our mountains. 

We Then started adding some shading.

The boys experimented with using different blending tools and their fingers.
