Friday Favorites: The Week Evan Turned 13

It's official; I am now the mom of three teenage boys!  We also survived our first week of distance learning-- it wasn't nearly as bad as I feared (boy I hope I didn't just jinx us for today!).  We have had distinct fall-like temperatures all week and I had to pack away the flip flops and take out my booties.  The leaves are starting to turn everywhere we look.

Evan and I settled down to schoolwork pretty quickly on Friday (after I dropped Alec off at school) and were joined by Ian once he woke up.  They were both done school by 10 and Ian headed off to work on the patio with his grandfather.  Evan and I cleaned the house a bit and then I headed out to run errands before picking Alec up from school.  Alec's final shop to try out was Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing.  He learned how to spray paint while masking off colors.  They made little tiny "almost" cars.

For dinner I had put some pork tenderloin and teriyaki sauce in the crock pot in the mo…

Encouraging Hearts and Home: Fall Is Here

With the official arrival of fall, all of my features from last week's party center around the tastes of fall.  I love this time of year with the leaves changing colors, donning cozy sweaters, and all those delicious comfort foods.  How about you?  What's you favorite part of fall?

2. Our favorite Halloween tradition that we just started two years ago is getting together with some friends of our for a hike.  For the past two years we've hiked in the same spot and it's just beautiful with all the leaves changing colors.

3.  This Halloween I'm still hoping to get in our hike and we'll spend the night watching a movie and chowing down on some candy.
4. My favorite fall recipe-- Oh boy it's so hard to pick just one!  I guess I'd ha…

Early Fall Fashions

This time of year our weather is all over the place.  It's not uncommon to wake up to weather in the low 60's or high 50's but then it warms up to near 80 during the day.  It can be a challenge to get dressed with a 20 degree difference in the day.  This time of year I am all about layers! Here are a few outfits I've been wearing this past month-- notice that in most of them I am still wearing flip flops.  It's not unusual for me to wear them right up to our first frost or even snowstorm!A cardigan with a tank top, jeans, and booties:
That same cardigan came in handy with my jumpsuit another day.

I found this long cardigan on my birthday shopping trip and was so happy to have a chance to finally wear it. Paired with a t-shirt and capri pants it was a comfy outfit.

On cooler cloudy days where our weather doesn't war up much I was happy to pull out another new sweater I had gotten for my birthday and paired it with the comfiest pair of yoga pants I own.

I have a …
