 My birthday was this week and even though we couldn't plan a little weekend getaway with our schedules we still found plenty of ways to make it memorable.  My sister sent me a necklace for my birthday; isn't it pretty? I love that it inadvertently matches the earrings my mother in law bought me when we went to the craft fair at the end of June (as an early birthday gift).   My mother in law also bought me a cute dress, made me a card, and gave me some $ to go shopping. My mother and I went to the Wrentham Outlets to go shopping together for my birthday. We found some really great deals this year and I ended up buying lots of great pieces. I love that all the stores seem to run pretty huge sales/deals after the 4th of July  We ate lunch at Tavern in the Square and I had a delicious chicken & burrata sandwich with arugula and fig jam. It's the third Thursday of the month and time for another ageless style challenge. This month Amy picked beat the heat for our challenge.  Typically I turn to sleeveless tops and shorts when it's real hot out.    I love a good halter top with shorts and sandals!  After careful consideration we decided to continue our CSA program this summer. CSA stands for community supported agriculture. In January we sign up and pay money upfront to the farm. They use our money for seeds, crop preparation, etc. and in return we get a portion of their crops each week all summer long (and into the fall too). We sign a waiver acknowledging that there is no guarantee of crop yield since nature is nature and the farm has no control over droughts, flooding, natural disasters and the like. Luckily both last year and so far this year we have had some pretty nice bounties of fresh fruit and vegetables to enjoy.    CSA Vegetable box #1 (June 19th) included 2 kinds of lettuce, some tomatoes, pea pods, strawberries, cucumber, and some garlic scapes. We used the lettuce with other veggies in our fridge to make a large tossed salad. The strawberries were gone by morning. We used the pea pods and tomatoes for our fajita bowls.  *Originally posted on the blog July 19, 2013 when the boys were 5, 7, & 9 With temperature in the mid to upper 90's, high humidity levels and heat indexes in the 100's we have had a serious case of the blah's this week.   I haven't felt like doing anything! Even in our house with the A/C it feels sticky and we feel lethargic.  But the boys sure have been having fun.  We fell back into an unschooling routine these past few days.  I got a new shipment of manipulatives in yesterday and so this morning they pulled out two buckets of pattern blocks and created with them and used our new geometric solid blocks to build a town.
