Throwback Tuesday: Thanksgiving Crafts and Worksheets

Image
** Originally shared November 19, 2013 when my boys were 6, 7, & 9**     Today we focused on school and some Thanksgiving crafts. I gave the kids choices, like I usually do, and we planned activities that they wanted to participate in.  I knew I wanted to do a "thankful" craft, but I couldn't decide on a Thankful pumpkin pie, a thankful pumpkin or a thankful turkey .  I was glad I asked since they all ended up choosing a different one to make! Ian's only requirement was that he be able to paint it.  While they got ready for the day, I pulled out the necessary supplies.  I knew we'd get a late start on our day as they were watching a marathon of How It's Made episodes and I had a lot to do around the house. But that is the beauty of homeschooling.  We can do schoolwork whenever we want!    We started by painting those things that needed to be painted and setting them aside to dry.  While they were drying we read a ver...

Talking About it Tuesdays #96

Image
Hello all, I hope this Tuesday is treating you well. We had a lovely weekend. Saturday Alec, Evan and I enjoyed Hadestown tremendously and since I didn't get home until midnight I spent a pretty quiet Sunday at home.. though I did start the day off with a lovely and quiet hike with my husband (just a little hike we could do right from our house). It's Veteran's Day today in the states and I hope you take a moment to honor those who have served.   We had a lovely link party last week and I enjoyed visiting everyone's posts. I can't wait to see what you share this week.        The link with the most views from last week's party:   Currently by Memorable Moments & Modest Missives    A few that caught my eye: Work Outfits Lately-Easy Office Looks I've Actually Worn & Link Up by I Do deClaire     A Casually Elegant Thanksgiving Table by Dinner at Eight      How To Make A Thanksgiving Turkey Charcuterie Board ...

Share Our Lives; How I Make Time for Reading

Image
This month for Share Our lives we're talking about how we make time for reading. For as far back as I can remember reading has been a priority in my life. I have been known to sneak off in a party and read a book quietly somewhere... Oh if there ever was a blog prompt that was made for me; this is it! I LITERALLY always have a book on me either in my purse or in my car. I read all the time. I am typically reading 2-3 or even 4 books at a time and have another one on audio that I'm listening to.    In the morning I prop open a book on the counter and read while I brush my teeth, blow dry my hair, get dressed.    I read while I eat breakfast and most days while I eat lunch too.    though this time of year I really miss sitting out here to read and eat breakfast!     I read when I'm in the doctor's, dentist, hairdresser, etc. Any time I am waiting in line I probably have a book open.    I listen to an audiobook when I clean the house, prep ...

Highlights and Favorites: A Sentence a Day in October 2025

We had a really lovely October, we got all of Evan's college applications finished (he's already had one acceptance/ scholarship offer!), all three boys settled into new jobs, we had some fun with Six & Monet tickets, fishing trips, and a birthday celebration. Our weather was just beautiful most days and perfect for hiking right up until the last week or so when it got real cold and windy.   1.  So thankful we had zero plans for the day!  I slept in a bit after getting home around 12:30am from the 21 Pilots concert and had a quiet day at home; my mom and step-father were heading home to North Carolina and Ian and I pitched in to help them get on the road by dinner time. 6,280 steps.   2. So thankful to pick up our last box of veggies; it's getting hard to keep thinking up new ways to use it all before it goes bad.  School with Evan, we went on a lovely hike, and then I went to pick up our last CSA box. 13,443 steps.   It actually fe...
