52 Lists week #47; My Absolute Favorite Holiday Movies

My 52 lists post was a bit late this week with the holiday on Thursday.  This week we were to list our favorite movies.  I have way too many favorite movies to list them all so I decided to just focus on my favorite holiday movies.

Now I must caution you that this list still might be a little long.  I have many favorite holiday movies too!  I love watching movies and always have.  Some are holiday movies that I remember watching as a child, some I enjoy watching with my children and some that just make me smile and laugh every single time I watch them.

In no particular order here are some of my favorite Christmas movies:

The Holiday-- I just love this sweet story; it makes me tear up each and every time.

The Holiday

Elf-- It has become our new family tradition to watch Elf each Thanksgiving night to kick off our Christmas season since my boys enjoy this just as much as I do.

Elf : Widescreen Edition

Christmas With the Kranks-- Thought I will admit I liked the book better this is one funny holiday movie that reminds us of the importance of neighbors (though just one year I'd like to skip Christmas like they plan and take the kids on a holiday instead).

Christmas with the Kranks

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation-- This is probably my all- time favorite Christmas movie and I watch it multiple times each year.  We watched the edited for TV version with our kids last year and they too thought the Griswold family and their antics were hilarious.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (Special Edition)

The Santa Clause-- I love this movie.  My boys and I watch it (and usually the whole series) each year.

The Santa Clause (Full Screen Special Edition)

Deck the Halls--  My oldest son, in particular, loves this movie about two warring neighbors and I love to sit and watch it with him.

Deck the Halls

Love Actually-- I didn't love this movie the very first time I saw it, but after watching it a few times it has really grown on me.  I love all the love stories and all the interweaving of them as well. Love actually is all around us-- such a great message for any season!

Love Actually - 10th Anniversary Edition (Holiday Art)

While You Were Sleeping-- I love most anything with Sandra Bullock but this movie is just so darn endearing.

While You Were Sleeping

The Family Stone-  When a meeting with the in-laws doesn't go quite as planned hilarity ensues.  I love this movie and with such a wonderful cast it's delightful to watch.

The Family Stone (Widescreen Edition)

4 Christmases-- While my husband and I did spend a few years travelling to visit all 4 families between Christmas Eve and Christmas day I am happy to say they all went a lot better for us!  I laugh every time I watch this movie.

Four Christmases

Miracle on 34th Street (this version!)-- I love the story and I just love the cast and cinematography in this edition of Miracle on 34th street.

Miracle on 34th Street

A Very Brady Christmas-- Having grown up watching the Brady Bunch I do enjoy their Christmas special.  It's like visiting my childhood all over again and I get a real kick out of seeing them all grown up.

A Very Brady Christmas (1988) DVD with Florence Henderson Robert Reed Holiday film

Home Alone-- I almost didn't put this on my list because my boys love this series so much that we watch them ALL the time ALL year long.  I do enjoy the Home Alone 1 & 2 but can't help wondering what kind of parents forget and loose their child 2  years in a row!  However, it does make me chuckle each and every time.

Home Alone Comp Coll Dvd-rpkg

Mickey's Christmas Carol-- I've always enjoyed the story of a Christmas Carol but with all the versions that are out there I still prefer Mickey's version the best.  What can I say?  I am a huge Disney fan.

Mickey's Christmas Carol 30th Anniversary - Special Edition (DVD + Digital Copy)

Arthur Christmas-- I really enjoy this movie and all the antics of the Clause family as they try to deliver one last forgotten Christmas gift.

    1. We try to set one night a week aside as family movie night (during the winter when we're not as busy). We'll pick a fun snack or treat and a family movie to enjoy together; December is always holiday movies. Tonight we're watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (the edited for TV version) and we have homemade chocolate chip cookies with eggnog and hot cocoa.
