N is for Narnia; the Chronicles of Narnia

I knew there was no way I could get through a whole alphabet dedicated to wonderful book series and authors without mentioning the Chronicles of Narnia.

My boys and I listened to the whole series of Audiobooks in the car one summer and they just loved them so much.

I had such fond memories of reading The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe myself when I was a child and had never listened to any of the other stories in the series.

There is a bit of debate about which order the books should be read in; we chose to read the books in the order in which they were published:

1.  The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

2.  Prince Caspian; The Return to Narnia

3.  The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

4.  The Silver Chair

5.  A Horse and His Booy

6.  The Magician's Nephew

7.  The Last Battle

We watched the movies when we were done with the books.

Others in this series:

M is for Magic Tree House

  2. I have to admit that I have never read any in the series. I have seen a few of the movies but I think I am jaded by a cartoon version of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe that we watched when I was in elementary school.

We received the audio books for Christmas for my 4 year old and I hope to enjoy them with him soon.

    1. I hope you enjoy them; my boys thought they were fantastic. I enjoyed them but I can't say they were my favorite series ever.

  3. I love The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe! I read this as a child and felt so much compassion with it. While my oldest has read it, I am hoping that my second oldest will fall in love with them! We have seen the movies, but they are nothing compared to the books. Thank you for joining us again this week!

    1. We all agreed that the movies were nothing compared to the books... and yet we did find ourselves wishing they had finished the series in movie form.

  5. I knew "of" these books but had never read them. Then my husband decided to use them for read-alouds with the girls. I enjoyed them as much as the girls did. And I enjoy the old version of the movies, not really the new ones. Thanks for sharing about some good classic books! - Lori
