My boys and I just love the imagination and intrigue of Chris Van Allsburg's books.  He has written many picture books, a few of which have even been made into movies.

We find his stories and ideas captivating and hope you will too.

Friday Favorites: It's Officially Fall

 It's official; summer has ended and fall is here.  We've had lots of cool mornings and evenings and I've begun putting away all the summer things.  Here are a few highlights from our week. We met up with friends of ours to go hiking on Friday and after a few false starts we ended up hiking at Bigelow Hollow.  We saw SO MANY little newts all over the place.  Seriously we had to watch the trail as we saw well over a dozen of them.  They were so cute and some of them were so small. My friend brought me some beautiful flowers as a sorry for mixing up our hike and not getting to hike Mt. Wachusett.  She didn't need to do that but wow were they beautiful and so colorful! Saturday Alec's karate studio had a demonstration at a local craft fair right near the falls.  It was such a fun way to start our weekend.  The whole studio did a great job showing off their skills and we walked around the fair for a bit.  Then my husband and I sat around near the falls talking waiting f

Friday Favorites: The First Week of October

 Despite having to cancel our weekend plans last weekend (my husband and I were going to spent 3 days in Vermont) we still had a great week!  We're hoping to squeeze in one last trip up north before winter but we'll see... Our calendar is filling up fast.  We turned our attention to some home improvement projects instead and enjoyed some really wonderful fall weather this week. Friday afternoon Evan and I headed out hiking with our hiking group; we had 4 families show up! This was the largest group hike we've had since the pandemic started and it was nice to see some new faces.  It was such a beautiful day for a hike too. Before taking Alec to karate on Saturday, my husband and I headed to Lowe's to pick out a new sink faucet and some new shower faucets.  I was so excited to tackle this mini master bath update... but it really turned into a PROJECT by the end of the weekend and we still don't have everything together yet.  I am loving the new faucets and having 2 sh

Friday Favorites: Wrapping Up September

We had a pretty quiet week at home.  I hardly took any photos at all.  Our weather has turned quite chilly these past two days with highs in the low 60's.  I don't mind when we have such beautiful, clear skies to go with it though.  I managed to sit in the sun a few time mid- day and soak up some sun but I definitely think my days are numbered unless I want to start bundling up soon. I pulled out an old package of Color Street nail wraps and am LOVING this color/pattern for fall!  The younger boys and I went on hike Wednesday.  Alec had the day off from school for professional development and we went up to Moore State park.   We cooked up some yummy food this week including this sausage/ tortellini soup and some banana chocolate chip bread (recipe coming in October!) for my husband and oldest son. I have used grocery pick up three times in the last two weeks and I am loving it!  Things have just been so busy here and being able to order online and pick up in minutes has helped
