This month's Pinterest challenge was all about Thanksgiving and while I don't typically do much extra decorating for the holiday I did see this cute Give Thanks banner that I thought would add a really nice touch to our fireplace.
While the link leads to a free printable version I knew I could easily whip up something cute and quick on my Cricut.
Using Cricut Sans I made my letters in all caps adjusting them all to be around 2" tall. Using a free banner image sized to 3" wide and 4" tall I cut out 6 each in orange and green (this gave me one extra banner but allowed me to cut them all out in just 2 full sheets/cuts).
Once I had everything cut, I laid out my design and glued the letters in place using rubber cement.
After the letters were glued on, I added small holes in the corner of each card to hang them by.
I threaded some ribbon through and then hung it on the mantle before making sure the letters were perfectly spaced.

We had a pretty quiet week around here; the weather has been pretty miserable and cold so we stuck pretty close to home. Our biggest excitement this week was our oldest son turning 18! He's finishing up a couple of college classes and has an interview for a full time job coming up. On Friday, at rather the last minute, my girlfriend and I got our families together for a hike around Leadmine again and I am so glad we were able to make that happen. It was sunny out, if a bit cool, and it felt great to get some exercise. Best of all my foot barely hurt afterwards! After hiking the boys and I hit up a local (and new!) Panera Bread for lunch. Lunch with my guys is a favorite as is the seasonal poppyseed chicken salad. Yum! My new manicure has been a favorite as well. I had painted my nails a white pearl color and while some of the polish was chipping off the tips I decided to just put some Colorstreet wraps over it; well the wraps are clear at the base with small flecks of glitt
We had a pretty rainy and uneventful introduction to May this week. But even in ordinary weeks there is something to be thankful for and this week my favorites include a trip that we planned (for later this summer)! I took Ian to the bank and got him all set up with his new checking/ savings accounts. It's such a weird adulting milestone! Lucky for me all my kids are great savers and I'm not worried about his finances at all. Saturday afternoon my husband and I took off for a date night out consisting of dinner and shopping. We planned to tackle mother's day shopping and ended up buying a home entertainment system for the basement. We had dinner at Smoky Bones-- which I only thought was okay since I'm not a big spicy/ BBQ/ meat fan and came home with zero mother's day gifts. LOL. It was still fun though and nice to get dressed up and out of the house. Sunday we had to pick up the TV we ordered the night before at a different Best Buy and offered to take Ian
We had a very quiet week around here and changed up quite a few of our plans at the last minute (read on to see favorite #1 and you'll see why!). Last Friday was a rather eventful day as my husband had an accident at work and ended up in the ER; a few x-rays, a cat scan, and some stitches later he was released (and went back to work!-- what can I say he's a little crazy!). He ended up with 4 stitches, a broken tailbone, and a sprained neck. But I was just so thankful that it wasn't worse and that my mother in law offered to go sit with him while he was at the ER so I could put away my groceries and pick Alec up like planned. Saturday morning Alec drove us to karate and back and even offered to pick up take out for everyone for lunch. I love seeing him driving more and offering to drive rather than having to twist his arm. He had a great karate class too! I had a wonderful and quiet mother's day; I was spoiled with gifts! We spent the majority of the day watching
