This month's Pinterest challenge was all about Thanksgiving and while I don't typically do much extra decorating for the holiday I did see this cute Give Thanks banner that I thought would add a really nice touch to our fireplace.
While the link leads to a free printable version I knew I could easily whip up something cute and quick on my Cricut.
Using Cricut Sans I made my letters in all caps adjusting them all to be around 2" tall. Using a free banner image sized to 3" wide and 4" tall I cut out 6 each in orange and green (this gave me one extra banner but allowed me to cut them all out in just 2 full sheets/cuts).
Once I had everything cut, I laid out my design and glued the letters in place using rubber cement.
After the letters were glued on, I added small holes in the corner of each card to hang them by.
I threaded some ribbon through and then hung it on the mantle before making sure the letters were perfectly spaced.

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics. I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms! The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2 and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. I think everyone would have loved an Edna Garret in their lives. Benson another sitcom that began airing when I was just 2 and was done by the time I was 9 (another one I must have watched mai...
I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up. I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately. It's such a great stress reliever. 1. Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud. I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears. The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2 The boys being silly. 3. Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband. Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5. Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night. It's fabulous. 6. Movies like Mom's Night Out, Christmas Vacation, and Grown Ups make me laugh out loud. 7. When my ...
Marilyn, Jennifer, Tanya, and I are so happy to be hosting this monthly link up (that goes live on the first Thursday of every month) dedicated solely to books and book reviews. Through this link up I've gotten lots of great ideas on what books to read next! This seems to have been a month of books written in verse and a whole lot of middle grade/ young adult fiction at that but wow did I read some really powerful stories. I had no idea I would enjoy stories written in verse so much (in fact I often assumed I wouldn't like them and went out of my way NOT to read them). I also lucked out that so many new books I've been anxiously waiting for came in at our local library and I've been reading up a storm. 1. All the Blues in the Sky by Renee Watson-- Sage's 13 birthday will forever be remembered as the day her best friend died. Dealing with loss and grief and anger and sadness, Sage tries to navigate this new world without her friend. With the help of ...
Happy Tuesday and welcome back to another Talking About it Tuesday party! I arrived home last night from a quick trip to Kentucky where I met up with some blogging buddies. Sometimes I still think it doesn't feel real that I've made actual friends through blogging. I got to meet a few more ladies this time around and experience a few new things too. It was a great way to recharge my batteries and I'm hitting the ground running today as we have another busy week in store. I was pretty proud of myself that I managed to visit everyone's posts last week before I left and found so many great ideas. With Mother's day fast approaching in the US and graduation season nearly here I'm already on the hunt for gift ideas, are you? This month for Share Our lives we're sharing how we enjoy spending our free time and what creative outlets we use to have a bit of fun. With all older teens and young adults in the house I have lots and lots of free time. I have so many creative outlets that I'm not sure I could even remember them all. My top 5 include: card making scrapbooking painting: I also love to put together puzzles: I spend a lot of my free time reading (I even listen to audiobooks while making cards, scrapbooking or putting together puzzles). I hope you'll join us next month when we all share how we celebrate/spend our birthdays! You are invited to the Inlinkz link party! Click here to enter Linking up with:
