Making a Simple Give Thanks Banner Using the Cricut

This month's Pinterest challenge was all about Thanksgiving and while I don't typically do much extra decorating for the holiday I did see this cute Give Thanks banner that I thought would add a really nice touch to our fireplace.
While the link leads to a free printable version I knew I could easily whip up something cute and quick on my Cricut.
Using Cricut Sans I made my letters in all caps adjusting them all to be around 2" tall. Using a free banner image sized to 3" wide and 4" tall I cut out 6 each in orange and green (this gave me one extra banner but allowed me to cut them all out in just 2 full sheets/cuts).
Once I had everything cut, I laid out my design and glued the letters in place using rubber cement.
After the letters were glued on, I added small holes in the corner of each card to hang them by.
I threaded some ribbon through and then hung it on the mantle before making sure the letters were perfectly spaced.

Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month and time for Share 4 Somethings with Jenn. Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics. When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant. That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. While there are many phone apps, portable gaming systems and electronic games that could occupy my kids we prefer to use the time together at restaurants to connect with one another and so we tend to play games like: Hangman-- any restaurant that has paper place mats works well for this. Ian is starting a new film study unit in our homeschool. He loves watching movies and when I found the Thinking Tree Film Study Journal I just knew Ian would love the opportunity to watch movies as part of his homeschooling day. I set to work writing up a list of movies I thought he'd enjoy watching. These are just some of the movies I found that I thought he'd enjoy watching as part of our history lessons. 1. Secretariat -- A story about a horse that won the Triple crown in 1973; the first American Thoroughbred to win in 25 years. 2. We left home Tuesday September 3rd early in the morning, at 4 am, to make our 7am flight out of Providence. It was a very uneventful day of flying and we had just enough time on our connecting flight through Chicago to go to the bathroom and grab some nice warm bagels for a late breakfast. We landed in Kalispell around noon (their time-- 2pm our time), got our bags, found our rental, then checked into the hotel. We stayed at Beargrass Lodge and RV park. We had a deluxe king room that had a kitchenette inside. We headed out to find food and found that the restaurant Marilyn recommended was just 1 minute away from our hotel. We ate delicious Patch Burgers-- burgers made with their signature huckleberry BBQ sauce, and an onion ring on top. They were delicious! After a full day of travel and only a bagel plus a few snacks the plane handed out I was starving. We did a quick grocery run, got our fruit cup up and ice made/bagged for our early start on...
