This month's Pinterest challenge was all about Thanksgiving and while I don't typically do much extra decorating for the holiday I did see this cute Give Thanks banner that I thought would add a really nice touch to our fireplace.
While the link leads to a free printable version I knew I could easily whip up something cute and quick on my Cricut.
Using Cricut Sans I made my letters in all caps adjusting them all to be around 2" tall. Using a free banner image sized to 3" wide and 4" tall I cut out 6 each in orange and green (this gave me one extra banner but allowed me to cut them all out in just 2 full sheets/cuts).
Once I had everything cut, I laid out my design and glued the letters in place using rubber cement.
After the letters were glued on, I added small holes in the corner of each card to hang them by.
I threaded some ribbon through and then hung it on the mantle before making sure the letters were perfectly spaced.

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics. I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms! The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2 and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. I think everyone would have loved an Edna Garret in their lives. Benson another sitcom that began airing when I was just 2 and was done by the time I was 9 (another one I must have watched mai...
When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant. That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. While there are many phone apps, portable gaming systems and electronic games that could occupy my kids we prefer to use the time together at restaurants to connect with one another and so we tend to play games like: Hangman-- any restaurant that has paper place mats works well for this. We take turns picking a word and drawing our hangman stand then take turns calling out letters and seeing if we can solve the puzzle. Tic Tac Toe-- This works best with pen on paper place mats but we have played making a grid with butter knives ...
I read 150 books in 2025 so it was really hard to pick just a few favorites. Typically I just go through each month and pick a favorite from the month but I thought this year it would be fun to pick favorites based on various categories. It was still so tough to pick just one book for each category though! Best Young Adult novel: I Hope This Doesn't Find You by Ann Liang-- This was another fun listen on my Libby app. Sadie tries so hard to make everyone like her but at times her frustration can get the best of her so she lashes out in email form. She never, ever plans to send any of them but they help her feel better.... until the day they all get sent and her life turns upside down. Most of the letters are sent to her nemesis Julius Gong and in a surprising twist of fate the emails find the two of them working together more than ever. It was really cute! Best juvenile fiction: Connect The Stars by Marisa de los Santos-- A really adorab...
It's a two post kind of day today! I posted about wearing a Continuous Glucose Monitor for a month but when I saw Joyce's fun questions for today's Hodgepodge Wednesday I just couldn't resist joining in! 1. Ice skating, skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, playing in the snow, or a snowy walk...which winter activity do you choose? Have you done any of these activities so far this winter? So living in Connecticut my whole life, I have done every single one of these activities. I haven't ice skated in years and I gave up skiing in 4th grade when I broke my leg but snowshoeing, playing in the snow, and snowy walks still happen at times. Most often you'll find me on a snowy walk. In fact Evan and I went on one this past Monday. It was so beautiful that we took TONS of photos: Mine: Evan's: he had a lot of fun with reflections in the water 2. Everyone is posting pictures from ten years ago on their social media sites so let's jump on the...
It's the third Thursday of the month and time for another ageless style challenge. This month Mireille picked tweed as our theme. I had to google it and I'm pretty sure these pants are tweed... not that you can really tell in the pictures. I've actually styled these on the blog before. They are one of my favorite pants; they are quite comfortable and they go with everything.
