Making a Simple Give Thanks Banner Using the Cricut

This month's Pinterest challenge was all about Thanksgiving and while I don't typically do much extra decorating for the holiday I did see this cute Give Thanks banner that I thought would add a really nice touch to our fireplace.
While the link leads to a free printable version I knew I could easily whip up something cute and quick on my Cricut.
Using Cricut Sans I made my letters in all caps adjusting them all to be around 2" tall. Using a free banner image sized to 3" wide and 4" tall I cut out 6 each in orange and green (this gave me one extra banner but allowed me to cut them all out in just 2 full sheets/cuts).
Once I had everything cut, I laid out my design and glued the letters in place using rubber cement.
After the letters were glued on, I added small holes in the corner of each card to hang them by.
I threaded some ribbon through and then hung it on the mantle before making sure the letters were perfectly spaced.

When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant. That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. While there are many phone apps, portable gaming systems and electronic games that could occupy my kids we prefer to use the time together at restaurants to connect with one another and so we tend to play games like: Hangman-- any restaurant that has paper place mats works well for this. We take turns picking a word and drawing our hangman stand then take turns calling out letters and seeing if we can solve the puzzle. Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month and time for Share 4 Somethings with Jenn. This year we're sharing something we loved, something that sustained us, something we're carrying forward, and something we're making space for each month. Something I loved: My husband and I had a really fabulous and delicious date night this month. We went to D' Avios Italian Steakhouse and Cupcake Charlie's. a cupcake whirlie; they swirl a cupcake into soft served ice cream Alec and I LOVED Wicked! I have always had a pretty wide variety of taste when it comes to music. I think part of it was growing up in the 80's and early 90's we listened to the radio the most. I mean yes I bought albums, cassettes, CD's (when they came on the scene) and would spend hours in Strawberries music stores scouring the shelves for the perfect single or album to buy. But most of the time when we were out in the yard, at the beach (on our boom box), or driving around we listened to the music on the radio. I lived for Casey Kasem's weekly top 40 and Shadoe Steven's American Top 40 where those most popular songs were counted down each week; the ones played at school dances, roller skating rinks, the arcade, etc. I have so many memories associated with these songs of my childhood.
