Share Our Lives-- Sweet Tooth Cravings

It's the second Monday of the month which means it's time for the Share Our lives link up.

This month for the Share Our Lives link up we're sharing some of our favorite sweet tooth cravings.

Funny enough I don't remember having much of a sweet tooth until after I had kids of my own. I actually didn't like cake as a kid and I never much cared for chocolate even as a teen.

I don't know if it was pregnancy or what but I went from being the person that would rather eat French fries or potato chips and other savory snacks to craving sweets ALL the time!

I try really hard to curb that craving though and rarely "let" myself indulge but when I do I've got lots of favorites to pick from:

Chocolate-- I don't like much plain chocolate but I do like dark chocolate and Lindt truffles but I prefer my chocolate mixed with something like...  peanut butter pairings like Nutty Bars, Reece's Peanut Butter Cups, chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, peanut butter cookies with Hershey Kisses on top. Caramel pairings like Rolos, Ghirardelli squares, chocolate/caramel cookies, Twix. Raspberry pairings like this chocolate raspberry cake Alec has made me for my birthday a couple of times now.  And the amazing raspberry cheesecake bites he made for the 4th of July one year.  I also really like Kit Kats, Butterfinger, Cadbury mini eggs, Heath bars, peanut butter M&M's, Caramel M&M's, & Cold brew caramel M&M's (I don't really like any other M&M's varieties).

Ice cream!  My favorite flavors are those with lots of chunks of candy and chewy/crunchy things in them like Moose Tracks (vanilla ice cream w/ peanut butter/chocolate), Maine Black Bear (vanilla ice cream with raspberry/chocolate), Cookie Jar (vanilla ice cream with M&M. Oreo, Peanut butter cups, & more!),
The "Judy" soft serve vanilla with raspberry and hot chocolate swirls & chunks of cheesecake

Cheesecake!! I love cheesecake of all kinds.

A good homemade cake (or cupcake!) with homemade frosting-- some of our favorites through the years include:

Chocolate/ peanut butter/ coffee flavored cake

white chocolate/raspberry cake

cinnamon mocha cake with chocolate cinnamon buttercream

chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and chocolate ganache

Tiramisu
we also made a lemon tiramisu for my mom's 70th and I was so surprised that we really enjoyed that too!
Brownies and brownie sundaes

Cookies and cookie bars!

crispy Heath cookies

everything but the... cookies

cinnamon bun cookie sandwiches

oatmeal scotchies

coffee peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips

Maple chocolate chip cookie bars

Oatmeal sandwich cookies

Christmas crack (which we make year round with different colors/ or no sprinkles)

Caramel apples or chocolate covered apples (or both mixed together!)

Pie-- especially apple, peanut butter pie, Tollhouse pie, & chocolate chip pecan pie

Carmel  or candy coated popcorn

A few sweets I never eat-- anything gummy. I hate the texture of gummy bears or gummy worms or any of those gummy/chewy fruit snacks like Starburst, Jujy fruits, Swedish fish, etc. I don't like marshmallow so I don't eat anything s'mores or rocky road. I'm not a big fan of nougat so I rarely eat anything like 3 Musketeers or filled chocolate candies.

    1. We try to only make sweets when we have others to share with too; just so I don't eat too many of them.

  2. So many great sweet treats- love all of the pictures and recipe links. I have never made a poke cake before- the Oreo one you have a picture for looks like a good one to start with! If I hadn´t eaten so many sweets over the weekend, I would be apt to indulge today looking at these pictures. I am nuts over gummies- I wish I didn´t like anything gummy or gel-like, lol.

  6. OMG!! this blog post is dangerous. I am a sugar lover (although I try to keep away from it) and these pictures are making me drool - my downfall is plain M & M's of course I never turn down cake or cookies or ice cream. It's good that I'm gluten-free so when I'm out, I usually can't eat it and baked goods - which is a good thing.

  9. I'm not a big ice cream eater, but I do love a chocolate raspberry cake combination. Every year my hubs gets me a dark chocolate cake with raspberry filling and a chocolate ganache topping. My favorite! Have a great day!

    1. I never used to eat much ice cream; I thought my father and grandmother were nuts when they used to offer me ice cream in winter.. but I'm starting to get it now! I still try to only eat ice cream in the summer though. But I can't pass up anything that has the dark chocolate/raspberry combo of flavors. That cake sounds wonderful and just like my favorite one!

Did you know that I used to work at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory store when I was in dental school. I was able to bring the broken pieces home and my teammate at school blames me for her weigh gain, haha.
But we used to dip the gummy bears in the melted chocolate. That's the way to eat them, haha.

  22. I didn't think I had that much of a sweet tooth, but looking at all that chocolate, icecream, and cake....well, it turns out that I do. I think I'm just grateful that I don't have easy access to really delicious treats, and that saves my waistline and my tooth enamel!
