Monday January 8th we had our first port of call at Roatan Honduras where my husband and I had booked a beach day.
We woke to a beautiful sunrise right off our balcony
We ate breakfast at the back of the ship, I just had fruit and a small French Baguette.
Then we went back to our room and watched the ship pull into port.
We found our tour group, drove about an hour through Roatan to get to our destination: Turquoise Bay. Our guide grew up on island and filled us in on the area. I couldn't really take any photos as we sped along but the island was a real mix of contradictions.
Our beach day was really relaxing and the food was so good! (Lunch was included).
We were back on ship by 3, showered, and got ready for dinner.
We showered, I did my nails, and we relaxed until dinner.

I've taken to traveling with a set of Colorstreet wraps since they are so easy to use and transport. |
We ate at Normandie and the food was amazing. We both ordered the same thing; Coquille St. Jacques and beef sirloin en croute (which I forgot to photograph). I finished of my meal with some Mille feuille.
We capped off our night with another show. An illusionist called Josephine Lee.

It’s cool that you were in Honduras! My parents are missionaries to Nicaragua (right next to Honduras!), and my oldest son is engaged to a native Nicaraguan girl!
ReplyDeleteThat's very neat!

DeleteAnother fun-filled day at sea and on land!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was!
DeleteWhat a lovely getaway! I'd love to be there right now in the tropical weather and away from our 15 degree temps this morning. It has been way too cold!
ReplyDeleteYeah we have had snow/ice these past few days too and I wish I was back there myself.
DeleteOh wow amazing. Looking at these I can hardly believe that we're in the midst of the worst snow storm we have ever encountered.

Thank you, it really was.
DeleteWhat a wonderful way to spend the day. I bet you aren't missing the frigid temperatures at all.
ReplyDeleteXOOX
Jodie
Nope, not a bit!
DeleteIt's frosty here so a Caribbean holiday sounds perfect right about now. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThis sounds heavenly right now.
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful.
DeleteThe food looks so good!
ReplyDeleteThe food was incredible.
DeleteThe views, the lunch, wow! It is good to know more about this port.
ReplyDeleteMy only (MINOR!) complaint was that this "private" beach was very crowded; ours was not the only bus there.
DeleteWhat beautiful photos, Joanne! The food and the beach...what a way to vacation!

Deletewow, Joanne. this looks so wonderful! we are headed out for a cruise at the end of April and I am already so excited. it's a wonderful treat and a lovely way to explore and savor new places.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope you have the best time!
DeleteHi Joanne, what a fabulous looking holiday you're having! It looks somewhat like the kind of holiday we have booked in May in Fiji (except our isn't a cruise). I can't wait! Thanks so much for linking up with the very first #WWWhimsy of 2024! Enjoy the rest of your holiday! xo
ReplyDeleteI hope you have the best time in Fiji!
DeleteThat beach looked so pretty. It looked like a fun way to spend the day off the boat. I'm loving your dinner looks! The food all looks so tasty too and the shows look really entertaining!
ReplyDeleteThe food and shows were incredible!
DeleteThis makes me want to take a cruise, but I'm scared of getting sick or getting stuck! Ha! I would love to visit Roatan.
ReplyDeleteThere is on on board medic (which I did need to visit one day-- pretty sure that's covered in next Monday's post!) but I figure how is it any different than getting sick or stuck in any foreign county?
DeleteYour photos on these past couple of posts have been just fabulous -- what a beautiful place to be with all that wonderful water! Here it's in the low single digits so I suspect those in a good part of the country might be a tad envious! I love your wonderful outfit, too. Happy Vacation!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteIt looks wonderful! I am sure it felt good to be on land again for a bit too.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! We talked about how we could never do a cruise where we had to be at sea for 3 or even 5 days in a row.. I would go nuts!
DeleteThe beach day looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful!
DeleteLooks like an amazing vacation. I have weather jealousy looking at the blue sky, sun, and sand in your photographs. It's cold and snowy here. The fried shrimp, grilled chicken, vegetables, and plantains look delicious.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's snowing here today too and I'm wishing I was back on this beach. :)
DeleteIt looks idyllic...
ReplyDeleteIt was... though the drive back through the country but a bit hair raising.
DeleteI'm ready for a vacation lol! The water looks so pretty and it reminds me of our trips last year. I really really like the idea of a cruise!

ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLooks like a lovely trip.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteWhat a great way to start your cruise in such a beautiful exotic place. We love to cruise and I particularly love the evening entertainment in the theatre. Thanks for sharing your cruise with us at #WOYBS. P.S. Love the nail colour!
ReplyDeleteP.S.S. I've selected your post as one that I will feature in next week's Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot post :)
DeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI'm so jealous! Looks like you had an incredible day. I haven't taken a cruise since my late teens. I need to remedy that.
ReplyDeleteYou really should; it was nice and relaxing!
DeleteI was on a Caribbean cruise years ago. With our weather so snowy and cold this week it looks like a fabulous warm time.
ReplyDeleteWe were thrilled to miss our first snow storm while we were away (of course we've gotten more snow since we got home).
DeleteThose beach views are GORGEOUS!!! And I love your dinner outfit!
ReplyDeleteThey were such incredible views. I think that was my coziest dinner outfit of the trip; I was so glad I had that cardigan with me since the air conditioning was cooler than I had anticipated.
DeleteThe food looks amazing, especially that shrimp!
ReplyDeleteI was really pleasantly surprised by how good it was; I had never tried plantains before and while I hate bananas I thought they were so good.
DeleteThe beach looks beautiful, your photos are so clear!
ReplyDeleteI was pretty impressed with the quality of photos since I only brought my cell phone with me on this trip!
DeleteWOw. How fun and beautiful. I need to go and read your other posts now.
ReplyDeleteIt really was a wonderful day!
DeleteIt looks and sounds like you all had a wonderful time! Thank you for sharing all the fun at The Crazy Little Love Birds link party #21. :)
