Western Caribbean Cruise day 3

Monday January 8th we had our first port of call at Roatan Honduras where my husband and I had booked a beach day.  

We woke to a beautiful sunrise right off our balcony 


We ate breakfast at the back of the ship,  I just had fruit and a small French Baguette. 


Then we went back to our room and watched the ship pull into port. 


We found our tour group, drove about an hour through Roatan to get to our destination: Turquoise Bay. Our guide grew up on island and filled us in on the area.  I couldn't really take any photos as we sped along but the island was a real mix of contradictions.

Our beach day was really relaxing and the food was so good! (Lunch was included).

The water was pretty clear and fairly warm



my lunch: fried shrimp, grilled chicken, vegetables, and plantains.

my husband had steak, lobster, and veggies with rice and beans-- he didn't like his nearly as much as I enjoyed mine.

We were back on ship by 3, showered, and got ready for dinner. 


We showered, I did my nails,  and we relaxed until dinner.


I've taken to traveling with a set of Colorstreet wraps since they are so easy to use and transport.

We ate at Normandie and the food was amazing.  We both ordered the same thing; Coquille St. Jacques and beef sirloin en croute (which I forgot to photograph). I finished of my meal with some Mille feuille. 


We capped off our night with another show.  An illusionist called Josephine Lee.

    It’s cool that you were in Honduras! My parents are missionaries to Nicaragua (right next to Honduras!), and my oldest son is engaged to a native Nicaraguan girl!

      My only (MINOR!) complaint was that this "private" beach was very crowded; ours was not the only bus there.

      There is on on board medic (which I did need to visit one day-- pretty sure that's covered in next Monday's post!) but I figure how is it any different than getting sick or stuck in any foreign county?

    Your photos on these past couple of posts have been just fabulous -- what a beautiful place to be with all that wonderful water! Here it's in the low single digits so I suspect those in a good part of the country might be a tad envious! I love your wonderful outfit, too. Happy Vacation!

      Definitely! We talked about how we could never do a cruise where we had to be at sea for 3 or even 5 days in a row.. I would go nuts!

    Looks like an amazing vacation. I have weather jealousy looking at the blue sky, sun, and sand in your photographs. It's cold and snowy here. The fried shrimp, grilled chicken, vegetables, and plantains look delicious.

      They were such incredible views. I think that was my coziest dinner outfit of the trip; I was so glad I had that cardigan with me since the air conditioning was cooler than I had anticipated.

      I was really pleasantly surprised by how good it was; I had never tried plantains before and while I hate bananas I thought they were so good.

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. 10 on the 10th: 10 Things I May do in May

 It's time for the 10 on the 10th link up with Marsha and this month she's asked us to list 10 things we can and/or may do in May. 5 Things I CAN do now that it's May: 1. May is typically the time of year we CAN begin planting flowers and getting pots ready. I'm holding off until Memorial day weekend just in case we still have some cold frost-filled nights.  2. We CAN (sometimes!) eat outside now that May has arrived. We MAY have done that earlier this week for an early Mother's day lunch with my mom. And, no we did not plan our matching pink outfits. 3. I CAN finally enjoy some flowers blooming around the yard! (these are the only 3 plants blooming right now but I see buds and greenery on all the others too). 4. Some of My Favorite Shows and Movies I've Been Watching

A couple of times now I've tried to get into the habit of sharing a bit more regularly what we've been watching. I don't know about you but I often struggle with what to watch when one show ends... I try many shows and often get just an episode or a season in before I end up giving up on it.  Most of the shows we stream are NOT new shows. I tend to look for shows that have multiple seasons already lined up so once I get invested in the characters and storylines I don't have to wait around for new episodes to come out (but there are some shows we do watch as they air).  There have been a few shows we've really enjoyed lately. Royal Pains is our latest show we're watching and while we're only 1/2 way through season 2 I am really enjoying it:  Hank is a doctor that has retreated to the Hamptons to lick his wounds after losing his job, his fiancée, and most of his belongings.
