Western Caribbean Cruise; Day 1

We were scheduled to board our ship, the Celebrity Apex, at 12:30, but our hotel shuttle dropped us off at 11 and we were assured we could check in early.

Check in was a breeze and everyone was so helpful and nice.

We began exploring the ship, went to our room to check it out:

We went to a complimentary lunch at the Tuscan Restaurant. It was delicious.  I had Caesar salad, baked salmon (that I forgot to photograph) and chocolate cake.

We walked around exploring some more and then around 2 we headed to our room to unpack.

View of other ships at port too

We watched as the ship was guided out of port and

dressed for dinner

We went to Cosmopolitan where I got French onion soup and ravioli.

We watched the show: it was great! Tommy Green Junior was both funny and talented.

We walked around the ship and got dessert before calling it a night. Everything looks so pretty all lit up.

    1. They have so many stabilizers on them now that you hardly feel the ship moving at all... at most we felt a gentle rocking when waves got large. We picked this cruise line specifically for the larger room sizes.

  12. Those giant cruise ships have so much to offer - they're a bit daunting for someone like me, but for those who love to be social and who love to be entertained, I think they're amazing.....all those pictures are selling it to me big time - and your cabin looks fantastic.

    1. We are surprisingly anti-social and I liked that this ship had so many tables for two in their restaurants. We also made sure to pick what is considered a "smaller" ship by cruise line standards.

    1. We had only ever been on one prior to this and I knew I didn't want a ship any larger the first one we went on; most of the newer ships are just so huge and overwhelming.

  22. I have not been on a cruise. Looking forward to your posts as well! I do not have claustrophobia, however- being confined on a boat I would be worried I would experience it!
    Take care and best wishes.

    1. I depends on the room you pick as to the size it is; some are huge-- 2 floors with a dining room, etc. and some are tiny. Of course room size reflects the price you pay... But we thought it was worth it since we tend to spend more time in our room than most people.

  36. Oooo...Celebrity! Swanky!!! What a nice looking ship. We cruised Celebrity 20 years ago because we got a killer deal and the itinerary was better than others during that time. We loved Celebrity's food and the decor. Not as much 'fun' stuff to do on the ship. Curious to read more about your experience.
