Share Our Lives: My Favorite Seasonal Activities
This month for Share Our lives we're talking about 5 things we like to do each season. I think this is going to be so hard to narrow down to just 5 things!
There are some things I like to do in any season-- like reading, hiking, cooking/baking, taking a trip, scrapbooking, card making, painting, etc. but sometimes HOW I do these activities varies a lot from season to season. In fact we are currently hiking in Glacier National park and loving it.
5 Things I like to do in summer:
1. Eat/ read outside on the deck or patio
2. Go kayaking
3. Go out for ice cream! Our local stands are only open in summer so we take advantage while we can.
4. Take photos of the beautiful flowers in the garden/bring flowers inside to enjoy.
5. Celebrate my birthday: go shopping with my mom, spend a weekend away with my husband (usually in Maine!)
5 Things I like to do in fall:
1. Watch the leaves change colors & take "fall drives."
2. Take on some more strenuous hikes once the weather cools off
3. Go apple picking, bake up apple pies, apple crisp, chocolate covered apples, and all the apple things.
4. Celebrate Thanksgiving and make our favorite leftover pie.
5. Decorate the house- I decorate the house for fall in late September and then we decorate for Christmas at the end of November. It's probably the only season I do so much decorating!
5 Things I like to do in winter:
1. Work on puzzles
2. read by the fireplace or wood stove
3. Go snowshoeing
4. Take pictures of the snowy landscape
5. vacation someplace warm like Hawaii, the Caribbean, or Florida
5 Things I like to do in spring:
1. Get plants for the front steps or to hang around the patio.
2. Watch the trees and plants come alive; particularly on our hikes which we up in frequency as winter ice and snow melts.
3. Celebrate our anniversary; preferably with a weekend up north where we hike.
4. After being cooped up inside all winter long spring is the time of year I like to take more day trips and see some local sights.
5. Go bike riding-- admittedly this was something I used to do every spring with the boys when they were younger and then we hadn't ridden bikes in YEARS but on our last Acadia trip this trip we rented Ebikes and had a fabulous time. We've already vowed to rent them again next time we visit somewhere where it's an option.
I hope you'll join us next month when we talk about our go to snacks.

You definitely make the most of every season! Love you make being outside and moving a priority whenever you can. Happy hiking and safe travels back!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThis was so fun to read! Love everything you do each season and I love how active you stay all year long
ReplyDeleteThanks! I sure do try.
DeleteYou certainly do some lovely things! Enjoy your hike in Glacier National park. The first puzzle picture you posted is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! That is one of my all time favorite puzzles.
DeleteYou're getting me in the mood for fall! I need to do some apple recipes for sure. The only one I'm not into is the puzzles! Lol - inside joke!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I did know that. I put in extra photos just for you! LMAO!
DeleteI’m with you, I love every season and love getting the most out of it! Oh, those leaves!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteI have the National Parks puzzle on my Amazon list! Might have to add in that tree moss one. Neither for me... I like puzzles in theory lol, in reality they stress me out. But my cousin likes puzzles & she loves tree moss & the National Parks!
ReplyDeleteOh I really like that National Parks puzzle; the Maui/mossy tree one was really hard but so rewarding to finish.
DeleteI don't cook as much as I used to for apple season, as most recipes have too much sugar for me. I love spring, as it's my favorite time of year. I agree with most of your seasonal activities, except winter. I'm not a winter person at all! #MMBC
ReplyDeleteYeah, lots of baked apple recipes do have a lot of sugar. I tend to make 2 apple pies; one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas.
DeleteI love this post a lot! For me, I love Fall so I can have open windows and wear shorts with fuzzy socks because my legs are warm but my feet get cold. Sounds silly, but so comforting! Stopping in from MMBC and I hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThat does sound comforting! I do that quite a bit on chilly summer nights.
DeleteI love that you hike all year, and reading in different locations is the best!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou have such fun activities for each season!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks!
DeleteI found it so hard to pick just 5 for each season too!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to apple picking and baking over the next couple of months and I would love to go somewhere warm in the winter!
We won't be going anywhere warm this winter but it is so nice when we can.
DeleteNicely balanced the whole year through!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love a fall hike too!! And I forgot about puzzles for winter, definitely a favourite pass time for us too.
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite time of year to hike.
DeleteI can definitely relate to your list of favorites. I found myself nodding along...
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteI bet the snowshoeing is quite a workout. Hope you're having fun at GNP!
ReplyDeleteIt really is quite a workout!
DeleteYou are in a perfect part of the country to enjoy all these great things each season! And yay for Glacier!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteI'm sure you're having a wonderful time! Several friends here have told me Glacier is their favorite of all the parks. I like many of the same things as you to enjoy in every season. We love to be outdoors too. Safe travels and have a grand time! Looking forward to seeing pics!
ReplyDeleteI seem to see a pattern here! I love that, once you decide you're going somewhere, you go for it! I hope Glacier Park is everything you hoped it would be!

I love reading books while sitting next to our wood burner. And like you I like to do puzzles. Gibson puzzels to be precise, because they have such cozy pictures.
