Talking About it Tuesdays #74

We are back from our trip and had a wonderful time. Now I am gearing up for Father's day weekend this coming Sunday and getting all caught up on all the housework. I was pleasantly surprised to have time each day to do a bit of blogging while on vacation so I was able to visit everyone that linked up last week.

      Thank you! Since breakfast wasn't until 8 and I habitually wake around 5 it was the perfect way to ease into my day.

    I am really enjoying our laid back schedule that we are back home and trying to do a couple house projects every day. Lots of reading when I can, sometimes it's not till late afternoon. Looking forward to Father's day. Trying to make it a little more special this year for hubby! I do need to pick a couple cards up for him and my dad!

      I haven't had rhubarb since I was a kid but I remember liking it a lot; it's pretty sour so most recipes call for extra sugar or sweet add ins like strawberries to compensate. I can remember eating it raw with a cup of sugar in hand.

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Movies like Mom's Night Out, Christmas Vacation, and Grown Ups make me laugh out loud. 7.  When my ...

Acadia 2025 Trip Days 4 & 5: Giant Cranberry Island and Heading Back Home

 Our last full day in Acadia and Alec was looking for something different to do that didn't include biking or hiking. We decided to ferry over to Giant Cranberry Island. But first we had breakfast. Daniel prepared a port wine poached pear and shakshuka with a chocolate croissant for our main dish. It was all quite delicious!  Before we went to pick up the ferry, Alec wanted to walk down to check out a local cafe Dora had told us about. He ordered a pastry and an iced matcha latte. He said they were very good but I just loved the decor inside the cafe. They had adorable fake plants and little lights everywhere.  We walked to the ferry dock and found we only had about 20 minutes to wait. I purchased our tickets online and we all boarded the ferry. It's the "off"/shoulder season in Acadia so the ferry only runs every 3 which means we had 3 hours on Giant Cranberry Island.... well 3 hours is about an hour and a half too long. Today is a double post day again ( I also posted about our first couple of days in Acadia) but I just had to participate with Marsha's 10 on the 10th this month. I haven't participated in one in a long time and I really liked this month's prompt. I am all about photos and sharing 10 photos of things I really like or love was too much fun to resist.   While these are not necessarily my favorite photos; these are photos that symbolize my favorite things/people. 100 Days of Science #68-- Index Card Tower

My boys did such a wonderful job with their spaghetti bridges and popsicle stick bridges that I decided to look up some other fun STEM challenges.  I found a fun index card challenge that I thought they might like.  I handed each of them a package of index cards from the dollar store and asked them to build the tallest tower they could just using index cards.   Evan struggled quite a bit at first not thinking about folding the cards in any way but once we saw what his older brother's were doing he hatched a new plan.  Every now and then they'd stop to measure their towers.. being very careful not to knock them over. Ian build his tower on our coffee table making sure to use a nice wide base. Ian's tower was the tallest by just a few inches and Evan had the shortest. This challenge really got them thinking about structural integrity and they had to be real careful of how they moved about too. ...
