A Surprise Share 4 Somethings on a Saturday Post!

I couldn't manage to squeeze my Share 4 Somethings post into my blogging week so I decided to add a surprise Saturday post just so I wouldn't have to miss out.   Head on over to Jennifer's blog to link up and see what we've all loved, learned, read, ate & enjoyed this month.  Loved:   We had a fun family centered 3 days of Christmas Learned:   My poor mother in law basically spent the 2nd 1/2 of of the month in the hospital and I have been learning far more than I ever wanted to about the digestive system.  I have been googling every symptom, every diagnosis (none of them actually last very long before another doctor points out what doesn't "fit"), and every test/ treatment they've been trying. We're very hopeful she's on the mend now.  Read:   While I read a few fun Christmas books this month, I found that I wasn't really in the mood to read many so I just kept picking up whatever caught my fancy and ended up with some pretty fun and f

My Favorite Papercrafts of the Year

It's the end of the year and for the last year or two I've been joining in with  Simply Ellibelle for her favorite papercrafts of the year link up.  I love looking back at all the papercrafts I've created and seeing which ones are favorites.  In my post I've included both cards and scrapbook pages.  It seems like I was quite creative this year!  I hope you'll hop on over and see what some of the other co-hosts are sharing! Monthly Musings: Ringing in the New Year

It's the last Thursday of the month and time for Monthly Musings with Holly and Patty. This month we're looking at how we celebrate the New Year.  My post will be pretty short and sweet (with no pictures this time!) because we don't really celebrate the new year at all.  1. Typically we don't do anything special to ring in the new year... and I don't think any of us have ever made it up until midnight (or at least not since my husband and I were in college anyway).  2. We don't have any traditions for New Years Eve or New Years Day. 3. We used to get Chinese take out each New Years Eve waaay back in the day.. apparently it was a popular tradition since the last time we tried it we had to wait over 3 hours for the food we had pre-ordered earlier in the day and we said never again!   4. I don't wear any fancy New Year's Eve outfits; usually just a pair of comfy pj's. 5. I don't know what I am most looking forward to in the New Year... I guess Alec

What's Up Wednesday; December 2023 Edition

It's the last Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for What's Up Wednesday.  I'm pretty sure that both Sheaffer and Shay are off for the Christmas break and there won't be a link up this week but I just love this monthly format for summing up our life so I'm going with it anyway.   I wrote most of this post on the 23rd of December which made it rather hard to write since my mother in law was in the hospital (she went back into the hospital on the 20th) and much of our holiday plans, meal plans, and future plans were up in the air. I kept coming back to update it as today approached! What We're Eating:   Monday:  Christmas dinner at my brother in law's house of ham, mashed potatoes, and vegetables.  Tuesday: Beef stew in the crock pot with biscuits. Wednesday: Quiche and salad. Thursday: Leftover pulled pork over baked potatoes with vegetables and salad Friday: Baked fish with rice and vegetables and salad.  Saturday: 3 Meat sauce in the cro
