Styling Classic White Tops with Ageless Style.
Oh boy, sometimes I feel like these ladies invited the wrong blogger to join in on their fashion challenges.. it seems like every month I'm scrounging around thinking "I don't have any of those!" Most of the time I happily buy something new, sometimes I dig deep in my closet and find something that works.
This month when Rosemary from Distinctly Southern Style suggested white tops I was pretty excited because I knew I didn't have one but I have been wanting to get one. Then I remembered I did have one button down white top! I decided to go a little outside my usual box and pair it with a skirt.
I've had this maxi skirt in my closet for a few years and I have never really worn it; I don't know why either. I love the colors and it is so comfortable. I found a plain pink tee to pair them with since I rarely wear my shirt actually buttoned.
What is your favorite way to style a classic white top?

Cute outfits! I wouldn't have thought to pair a white shirt with leggings but your outfit looks really good. Maybe the denim jacket helps to pull it all together?
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think a denim or other lightweight printed jacket is needed to pull the outfit together with leggings... maybe a cardigan would work too?
DeleteSo in love with this look that you put together! That skirt is stunning and I like how you wore the top as a jacket.

Aw, thank you!
DeleteI love a classic white button down shirt because it's so stylish and versatile. Your outfits are lovely and colourful, just in time for your warmer spring months!

Yes, just in time for our warmer spring weather.
DeleteBoth your looks styling a simple white top are amazing! I love it with your maxi-skirt and the the casual look using it as a jacket is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteI love your outfits. I tend to shy away from wearing white clothes as I seem to attract dirt. lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, I really don't own much white because I do think it's a bit high maintenance and I don't think it's the most flattering color on me either.
DeleteI like that skirt!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteCute outfits, Joanne!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteIt's fun to see you in a skirt! I barely ever wear my button down buttoned but I do love your look with the jeans and your shirt buttoned. You pull it off well!

Right?! I'm trying to buy/wear more skirts and dresses this year... now I did only wear the skirt for less than 1/2 the day but at least I tried.
DeleteI'm the opposite of you. I have so many white tops it's ridiculous! I just am drawn to white I guess. I love the second outfit. It looks so stylish and chic!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteI have a couple of not so basic white t-shirts and a white linen cardigan but I don't own a white button down as they aren't my style. But have to say I do love how you styled this one here, especially the second photo. I don't wear leggings but think it would be a cute look with fitted jeans or ponte pants too. I also love how the green tank top peeks out!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got a chance to style the skirt too, it's a beautiful and unique print!
Thank you! I think that could definite work with any more fitted pair of pants.
DeleteSeeing styling from someone who doesn't have a million options is always interesting, and both of your looks turned out great! I like how the white lightens up both outfits. I probably wear my button up shirts layered under pullover sweaters most often, but for warm weather, I almost always wear the button ups with the sleeves rolled up whether it's as a shirt by itself or layered over a tank/T.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I never think to roll up sleeves; mostly because that extra material tends to drive me crazy but it is a great way to transition from into warmer weather.
DeleteSuper great looks!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI just love how you showed it two ways and yay for already having it in your closet. That maxi reminds me of the one I wore in last week's Daily Outfits on Monday. We could be twins.

Thank you!!
DeleteYou look very cute! I hardly ever wear white any more. I was an RN and had to wear a uniform during the time when it was required to wear a white dress. When I switched to surgical I loved wearing a green scrub for a change. :)
ReplyDeleteCan't go wrong with white tops- such staples and great investments!
ReplyDeleteVery true!
DeleteWhile I like the shirt with the skirt, I really like it over your leggings and with the denim. It's a little more edgy! You look fabulous in both!

Love the looks you put together, Joanne.
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic!
Hugs and blessings
I think I like the second option, although you could knot the white top over your waist in the first one - what a pretty skirt! I am all about leggings, but I do the capri length. So comfy and versatile!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI think it's just fun when there are different women in s such a group Joanne! Love it unbuttoned with the maxi skirt!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteA classic white shirt is everything. You look adorable.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks!
DeleteYour hair is so long! I never knew that. Anyway, I am off topic. I love a good oversized white button down. I think they are super comfortable and versatile. I love them with shorts or to throw over a bathing suite and linen pants in the summer. That button down is a keeper!
ReplyDeletebosbodaciousblog.blogspot.ca
LOL! I think it often looks shorter because it's usually so curly. I have NEVER thought of wearing my shirt with shorts but I am definitely going to try that this summer.
DeleteThe white shirt under the jean jacket looks super cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love your layered white button up under the denim jacket especially! Both are cute outfits!
