Styling Sumptuous Fabrics with Ageless Style
I was so excited when Leslie suggested we showcase how we style some sumptuous feminine fabrics.. things like silk, satin, velvet, cashmere, lace, and soft sweaters because I am all about soft and silky looks. I pick most of my clothes based on the feel of them!
I've always been a sucker for anything velvet so you can imagine my surprise when I walked into my closet and found that I don't have ANY! I ordered this wide legged pair on Amazon and I know they are going to be a new favorite of mine.
They're soft and silky yet that have a bit of give and stretch like yoga pants do. Combined with the flowy flared leg they seem to go with just about everything in my closet too. I tried them on with several different tops before settling on one of my cozy sweaters.
It had just snowed the morning I decided to take these photos but most of it had melted by the time we headed out with the tripod and camera. It was still freezing cold posing and the lighting wasn't great enough to even pick up the fabric materials but I appreciated Evan's efforts.

I have a similar sweater that I am going to wear soon! I also have a white sweater with black hearts. It's just kinda fun for February! I love velvet and have quite a bit. It doesn't really go out of style.
ReplyDeleteI want to add at least one more item with hearts into my closet for February!
DeleteWhat a gorgeous sweater.and it look fantastic together with the pants. Perfect outfit for the cold weather and also perfect for Valentine's Day.

Thank you!
DeleteI have the same sweater! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so popular; and for good reason too as it is really well made.
DeleteI am like you and am much about clothing texture- give me the soft, elegant feminine ones like silk, satin and cashmere. I have been thinking of adding some velvet to my wardrobe. I will check out the velvet pants that you picked out. They look great on you especially combined with your fun sweater.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was so glad they weren't the thick stiff velvet like the dresses I remember from my childhood.
DeleteI like that you went for a different pant silhouette and like you lately I have been all about textures!

What an awesome buy, you had me it goes with everything in my closet! Another thing I love is that sweater. I've really been wanting to add a sweater like this to my wardrobe and although I am really trying not to spend and buy things at the moment, I may just break the rule for a cute valentines day or February kindness sweater.

I love versatile clothing pieces since I try really hard not to always wear the same things together.
DeleteThose pants are fabulous and such a great Amazon find! Love this mix of textures!

DeleteWhat a fun look!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteVelvet pants sound like fun to me!
ReplyDeleteThey are so soft and comfy!

ReplyDeleteThat sweater is so cute! I didn't really have any 'sumptuous' fabrics in my closet either, so I just went with something close.
ReplyDeleteI had a few pieces in mind but when I went to look for them I could not find them anywhere (I'm guessing they were in my "old" sizes).
DeleteLooking ready for Valentine's Day in velvet and a big heart motif sweater!
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteVelvet pants are so amazing for winter. I just wore my burgundy ones earlier this week (you'll see them in my Daily Outfits post on Saturday). The sweater is something I would absolutely love because of the different textures!!

Thanks!
DeleteLooking good. I wouldn't normally go for velvet but those pants look so comfy and stylish too. The sweater goes so well with them.
ReplyDeleteThey are so nice and feel so casual despite being velvet!
DeleteThis is such a perfect outfit! I love red, black, and white together! Those pants look amazing!

Thank you!
DeleteAh, I love that sweater. I actually already have it in my Amazon cart. Time to actually buy it!:)
ReplyDeleteIt is so cozy!
DeleteYay for you to get some velvet in your closet!! And what a great pair of pants. They can be dressed up or down but look super comfy, too. That sweater is adorable. Perfect for Valentine's date night.
ReplyDeleteWe had really crummy weather on the two days I had hoped to take my pictures. It was cold and very windy the first day, and then raining - it never rains here - the second day. Wound up taking my photos inside. Your son did a great job taking your pics. Maybe the weather will cooperate for both of us in February.
I just ordered a new outfit for February's round of photos and hoping that between this weekend and the 3rd Thursday in Feb. we'll have at least a couple of nice days that will work!
DeleteSo cute! I need to get something Valentine-y. And yes, all these must 'feel' good...the softer the better.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely!
Delete"I pick most of my clothes based on the feel of them!" ME TOO! I was walking around Kohls earlier touching everything! If it’s not super soft, I am not interested! Your heart sweater is so fun, and I feel like I need wide-legged velvet pants in my life! :)
ReplyDeleteI think everyone needs some wide-legged velvet pants! In fact, I'm wearing them again today.
DeleteI LOVE your outfit Joanne. The velvet pants sound so cosy and comfy! You always look lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteThose look soooo comfy! I bet they're warm, too!
ReplyDeleteNot as warm as you'd think... they let quite a bit of wind through the weave; but I think that's part of what makes them so soft.
DeleteEvery time I see that sweater, I want it! I think I need to get it.
ReplyDeleteOh you really should! I have owned it for a couple of years now and it really holds up to wear and washing too.
