Ageless Style: Styling Spots and Dots

For this month's ageless style Mireille picked spots and dots-- this can be anything with polka dots, leopard prints, Swiss dot, etc.  I sort of have a "thing" for Swiss dot and own several shirts and dresses made with that fabric in a variety of colors so I was really excited!

Then I realized that all of my Swiss dot clothes are either sleeveless or chiffon and see-through; both items that do not work well with the cold weather we've been having!

I finally decided to pull down the bin of spring/summer clothes and see what I could come up with.  I paired my favorite pink Swiss dot shirt with this long thick cardigan my mother bought me for Christmas a few years ago.  As soon as I saw the silver studded dots on the sleeves I knew it would be perfect for this challenge!

I wore my new black jeggings with my new black boots and pulled out some silver and pink jewelry to complete the look.

Even with the added layers it was much too cold and windy to take pictures outside so we settled for in front of the fireplace again.

So far this year we've looked at:

    1. Thank you! It was quite a challenge for me as I found I own very few things with spots or dots!

  4. I never thought of Swiss dots for the challenge. I have a pale blue lightweight sleeveless Swiss dot top too, but like you, I also would have had to wear it with a cardigan. It seems like the weather lately has really been affecting our fashion challenges.

    1. Yes! While our winter has been really mild as far as snowfall goes it does seem like temperature wise it's been all over the place and makes it challenging for styling fashions.

  5. Your blush pink top with its Swiss dots is so pretty. And the cardigan makes it weather-appropriate for the winter to spring transition.💓

  6. I had forgotten that style of dots is called Swiss. I have a blouse with them and I think it's pretty. You're looking pretty in pink. Hope the weather warms soon and you won't need the cardigan....

  10. I loooove anything and everything dots! I have a couple of swiss dot blouses similar to this one and they're so pretty! This shade of pink is perfect with your skin tone, and I love the black and white ends of the sleeves of your cardigan, too!

  12. Great outfit that you pulled together, Joanne!

  13. I have to say that I'm SO glad you worked with what you had even though the blouse was a "summer" top. I always like to say we shouldn't categorize our clothes and this is exactly why...it looks fabulous layered under that cardigan.
BTW, as an avid layerer when living in Denver, I've been known to layer a sleeveless top like this one OVER a long sleeve long underwear top so I could be outside!! I know all the tricks to stay warm from my Denver days, haha.

    1. Thank you! I just do not have enough room in my closet to keep all my clothes out year round so I typically keep all fall/winter clothes together and all my spring/summer things together then rotate.

  22. I don't remember seeing you in pale pink before. It is such a lovely color against your pretty complexion. I like Swiss dot fabric, too. Can't remember what I had made of it, but something in my childhood. It is a feminine fabric, I think. Love the silver dots on your cardi cuffs. You look ready to embrace spring if it ever arrives.
