10 Favorite Fall Staples

It's just about that time of year!  We've had some cooler nights and can even see some of the leaves on our trees beginning to turn lovely colors.  I just love the fall and so when I saw that this month's 10 on the 10th was all about favorite fall staples I just knew I had to join in!

These are just a few of things I look forward to each year!

1.  Pumpkin Spice Frosted Mini Wheats- I don't enjoy pumpkin spiced everything but I just LOVE these Mini Wheats and stock up while I can find them.

2.  Cooler temperatures-- While I'm not sure this qualifies as a staple I just can not imagine fall without picturing cool crisp autumn days.  My boys and I do hike year round but there is nothing quite like fall hiking in New England.  The trees are so colorful and the cooler temperatures make the walks nice and enjoyable.

3.  Sweaters or hoodies with yoga pants-- While many people may think of this as three things I think of it was one outfit.  :)  It's my go to wardrobe choice for the fall perfect for hiking, lounging around the house, and keeping warm.

4.  Apple everything!  We go apple picking all fall long and while we enjoy just munching on fresh apples we also love cooking with them.  Apple pie, apple crisp, apple pancakes, etc.

5.  Cranberry/ craisins-- I love the added tartness of cranberries and craisins and find myself drawn to recipes and store bought products that use them.

6. Cowl neck and turtlenecks-- I just love the look and feel of a nice cowl neck or turtle neck and find that many of my fall sweaters feature this.

7.  Crock Pot!-- I don't think I could survive the fall and winter without my crock pot! At least once a week we cook up a soup or stew in it.  There's just something about smelling the food slowly simmering all day and digging into a hearty warm meal for dinner-- like this beef stew.

8.  Cinnamon & Pecan Special K-- I just love anything with cinnamon and pecans and this cereal is another one that I try to stock up on in the fall.  I just LOVE it!

9.  Scarves!!-- I love scarves of all kinds and have a whole drawer full that I mix and match with my outfits.

10.  Hot Cocoa-- I really do not like any other hot drink besides hot cocoa.  My favorite brand is the Land O Lakes because they are so rich and creamy and I tend to enjoy the flavored varieties like raspberry, caramel, and mint.

    1. We went from 90 and sweating to like 50 and freezing; I am really hoping our temps settle down just a bit to be mild fall.

  4. Fall is really one of my favorite seasons. We had record high temps and then they just dropped into seasonally appropriate weather and it is so wonderful.

I love my fleece blankets for snuggling on the couch, mint cocoa, and pumpkin candles.

    1. Oh we went from really hot to very cold... hoping it will even out soon. I can not wait to burn my pumpkin candles and the caramel apple ones I got too. Love those spicy fall scents!

  5. I love you Americans' pumpkin spice love - it must be catching on here as apparently our major coffee chain costa as a 'bonfire spice' one now. It is lovely putting on all the hoodies and sweaters after summer! We aren't quite at scarf weather but it can't be far off! Joanne x

    1. We aren't usually quite there yet either but we seemed to have gone from summer overnight to almost winter temps. Hopefully mother nature realizes she skipped fall and those temps will even out soon. There is nothing I love more than a scarf with a long sleeved top and pants-- without a need for a coat.

  8. Cranberries in salad are so good. My mother in law just made a cranberry, pecan, apple salad with blue cheese that tasted like fall in a bite. So good! I love cozy comfy clothes like hoodies too :) Thanks for linking up!
