Books My Boys Read in September

I wasn't sure that my boys would have much time for reading in September since we officially started back to school.   While they are required to reach each day they rarely read more than what I require.  Often by the time we're done our family read aloud and the books we read for science, geography, or history they don't have much inclination to read anything else.




So I was really surprised by just how long our list was this month!

    That's a lot of books! My youngest kids love Rick Riorden books.

      I was impressed; I really didn't feel like they had done a lot of reading. I am pretty sure we have read every book Rick Riorden has ever written. They just love his works.

    That's quite a selection! I'll have to see if the library has the Flat Stanley one, my daughter would have fun with that!

When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant.  That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. Bloggers Weekend in Asheville Days 1 & 2

This was our 3rd annual bloggers weekend ( year 1 was Nashville here , year 2 was Louisville here ) and we planned to meet in Asheville, North Carolina. I was the only one flying in... and it was not easy finding flights into Asheville! My first day was spent traveling, as was everyone else's. Jenn texted in the morning that she was sick and had to back out. We were all disappointed.  I left for the airport before lunch and landed in Asheville around 6:30 after a long layover in Atlanta. I walked the terminal to get in some extra steps and picked up a really delicious sandwich for a late lunch/ early dinner.   Maria had kindly offered to pick me up and we met up with the other ladies at our AirB&B that Marilyn found us by 7.   Marilyn and Tanya put out quite a spread and Maria added some goodies too. Share Our Lives: My Favorite Cleaning Products

It's the second Monday and time for Share Our Lives. The monthly link up where we share snippets of our lives. This month we're talking about our favorite cleaning products.  I took photos of cleaning products as I used them and am sharing them in no particular order.  I use Dawn dish soap as a stain remover for our laundry. It works particularly well with kitchen oil/ salad dressing stains.  I don't, however, use it on our dishes.  This (or All Free & Clear) is our usual laundry detergent.  We use this in our dishwasher. And this is what we use on our dishes when washing by hand (also what we use on our countertop and table).  I use white vinegar for so much-- I water it down to use on our floors in our refillable mop, I add 1 cup to the laundry when I want to remove odors (like with our towels). Cleans windows/glass without streaks, I mix it with salt and use it on weeds..  Baking soda is also used to boost laundry detergent. I sprinkle it in pan...

Talking About it Tuesday #116

I should be home by the time this goes live as my flight is supposed to land late Monday afternoon but after my last trip I'm not counting on anything when it comes to air travel. I should be just fine without any major snowstorms in the forecast though. I will have a complete wrap up of our trip to share up on the blog this week.    Trying to tie up loose ends quickly before I headed out on my girl's trip this past weekend I, once again, used a random generator to pick the featured "favorites" for the week.
