Books My Boys Read in September

I wasn't sure that my boys would have much time for reading in September since we officially started back to school.   While they are required to reach each day they rarely read more than what I require.  Often by the time we're done our family read aloud and the books we read for science, geography, or history they don't have much inclination to read anything else.




So I was really surprised by just how long our list was this month!

    That's a lot of books! My youngest kids love Rick Riorden books.

      I was impressed; I really didn't feel like they had done a lot of reading. I am pretty sure we have read every book Rick Riorden has ever written. They just love his works.

    That's quite a selection! I'll have to see if the library has the Flat Stanley one, my daughter would have fun with that!

Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month and time for Share 4 Somethings with Jenn. Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. 15 Family Restaurant Games

When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant.  That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. While there are many phone apps, portable gaming systems and electronic games that could occupy my kids we prefer to use the time together at restaurants to connect with one another and so we tend to play games like: Hangman--   any restaurant that has paper place mats works well for this.  We take turns picking  a word and drawing our hangman stand then take turns calling out letters and seeing if we can solve the puzzle.   Tic Tac Toe-- This works best with pen on paper place mats but we have played making a grid with butter knives ...

What's Up Wednesday: March 2026

Can you believe it's the last Wednesday of the month and time to link up with Shay and Sheaffer for What's Up Wednesday?  I feel like this month flew by. We have had a great month with just a hint of spring here and there. What We're Eating: Sunday:   My 3 meat sauce with spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad.   Monday: Homemade shepherd's pie with salad Tuesday:  Baked ham, egg noodles, corn & salad Wednesday: Chicken Caesar salad wraps with fries and salad Thursday:  Turkey stuffed peppers w/salad Friday:  Steak & Shrimp stir-fry over rice What I'm Reminiscing About:  We went to Evan's accepted student day and it's just baffling to me that this little guy, my youngest, is heading off to college in the fall.    What I'm Loving:  Wicked was SOO good! Monthly Musings in March 2026

 It's the last Thursday of the month and time for Monthly Musings with Patty . This month we're all about spring holidays and fun.   1. Does it feel like spring yet where you are?   Definitely not! We had a wintry mix of snow/rain/sleet on Monday with highs in the 30's, some sun and highs in the 40's on Tuesday, yesterday and today brought more rain and some slightly warmer temps in the 50's & 60's but without the sun it still feels rather cold and raw. Friday- Sunday is only supposed to get into the 40's.  But... pretty much all the snow is gone/melted so that's a plus! Other than this photo showing no snow all the other photos in this post are from past springs... since we just established it's not spring yet here.  2. What spring holidays do you celebrate? Mother's day is pretty much the only spring holiday we celebrate.  3. Any spring trips planned? Yep! All of our trips for this year are taking place in spring so I have 3 of them planned...
