Talking About it Tuesdays #135

We had a busy weekend with both boys moving into college but the move-ins themselves went well and they both seemed happy and settled in in no time. After dropping Evan off on Thursday, I did have to take a second trip up on Friday after buying a much larger fan to deliver said fan since his dorm room was so hot and poor Alec had to make a second trip home on Sunday because while we did manage to fit all his stuff into our 2 cars for Saturday's drop off he had, somehow, forgotten his culinary uniform jackets as well as his mouse and mouse pad. Luckily they are close enough that we can do these kinds of things easily.

How was your week/ weekend? Good I hope!  We had a really wonderful link party last week. Thank you all for showing up week after week and making this so much fun.

    1. Thank you! I'm doing well; mostly just putting the house back to rights and focusing on my to do list each day.

  2. I'm glad drop off went really well for both of your boys. I love that we are as close to Alyssa's school as we are- we had to make two trips and it wasn't too big of a deal with being only three hours round trip. Thanks for the link up!

  5. Settling our young people into new environments certainly has its challenges. My grandsons had to move from a country town to the city for University. Have a great week, thankyou for visitng my blog this week and for the linkup.

    1. Yep, we live out in the country and both boys settled into cities for colleges. It's quite an adjustment even just noise wise!

  6. That's good about the move ins. They can be so stressful. It's nice that you're close enough to drop something off or for them to pick something up. I remember being really hot in my freshman dorm! I hope you're enjoying some of the quiet time!

    1. Yes, after living with air conditioning his whole life going without has been quite something. He did say the larger fan helped a lot.

  7. Having them settle must be a load off your mind, and task list! Isn't there always that one thing left behind? Enjoy the week ahead!

    1. Yep! Every single time it seems like something gets left behind. Alec's poor roommate left her culinary shoes in Utah last year which she realized the day before her classes started. I'm guessing she had to go buy new ones locally!

  8. Glad to hear your boys are settled and now seem to have everything they need. Poor Evan! Hopefully the weather will cool off soon and he won't even need a fan! Thank you for the feature and have a great week, Joanne.

    1. Thankfully our nights have been much cooler the past few nights. I encouraged him to open it at night and drag the cool air in with the fan then shut the window and the shade each day to try and keep the hot sun out.

  9. I love that you are near enough to "be there" when needed or for emergency drop offs or pick ups. Somehow it makes the transition easier on a mama's heart, I think. So glad both boys are having a great start to the year - despite the heat! Hopefully the temps dip soon! Thanks for the party!

    1. Yes! I love that too. I encouraged them to stay close to home for that reason and assured them that "away at college" is away at college no matter if you are across the state or across the country. But at least I could be there if they needed me which would not be the case if they were in say... Florida.

  10. My daughter lived at college, but it was also about 40 minutes away which definitely made these "home runs" easier! Plus it was always nice to see her for a surprise visit!

    1. Yes! I love that they are close enough to pop home for a long weekend if they'd like-- though I did promise never to pop in on them uninvited.

  14. Nice to be close enough to help in emergencies. My son did 2 years out of state and then transferred to a school 40 minutes away. I was glad we could be there to help with a flat tire once and with him locking himself out of his vehicle once. :) Thanks for hosting!

  17. I made a second trip to my son's college too: he realized he didn't have his bath towels so I went back and brought that and a few things to him and took him out to lunch! He is coming for a day this weekend to visit with his grandpa who is in town for a week.
