Acadia Main 2026 Trip; Day #3

Breakfast was yummy cinnamon buns, with fruit/yogurt/granola and some banana crepes with bacon that I forgot to take photos of since I only ate the bacon. No bananas for me... and even if I had removed the bananas the syrup tasted like the bananas and they crepes were filled with what basically tasted like whipped cream (which I also don't like). BUT I was plenty filled with just this and ready to hike.

We elected to hike near Long Pond we took the Cold Brook Trail to the Razorback Trail to the Great Notch Trail to the Great Pond Trail... it was nearly 5 miles and oh so buggy.

not something you see on the trail every day

See the "Deere" on the trail?

It's hard to see but pretty much ALL of the Razorback trail was a rocky climb up and up and up.

Can you see all the stone stairs we climbed?

Thankfully the view from the top was incredible.

Eventually we started our way down the Great Notch trail. It was much flatter but filled with mosquitoes.

As we started getting closer to the pond the mosquitoes got even worse.. but we got to listen to the babbling brook that must have helped keep the pond full.

As we arrived at the pond the wind picked up and the mosquitoes died down.

We saw some deer in the field on our way out.

We went back to our hotel, showered, then walked to Beals Lobster for lunch. We had views of the marina and enjoyed hot buttered lobster rolls with fries.

After that we decided to get in the car and drive the scenic park loop through Acadia; something we hadn't done since our first trip. I don't have many photos though as they made most of the scenic park loop a one way road and all the "good" stuff was on the driver's side of the car.

We ended in Bar Harbor, did a bit of shopping and then headed to dinner at Paddy's Irish Pub and Restaurant. I had chicken Caesar salad.

We stopped for ice dream in southwest harbor before settling in at our hotel/B&B for the night. I got Maine Black Bear ice cream-- vanilla ice cream with raspberry swirls and raspberry filled chocolate mini cups.

  1. My son is heading up to Hancock, Maine as I write this comment for a music festival. I so badly want to visit him and see Acadia. These pics look amazing.

  2. I just went back and caught up on your Acadia trip. I'm sorry the B/B changed hands. I'm sure that was disappointing.Looks like you had some great hikes though and the views are amazing all over Acadia. We stayed in the Bar Harbor Inn one year for a couple of nights and enjoyed the cliff walk. There's some gorgeous homes up there. We stayed in a B/B in town and it was nice. That raspberry/chocolate swirl combo in a cone is my favorite flavor.

  3. It looks so pretty and do I recall you getting this flavor of ice cream before in Maine? I know you've mentioned flavors before and they all sound so good! I want a lobster roll really badly now... The views look worth the climb!

  4. That homemade cinnamon roll looks so good. I make mini ones out of Crescent Roll dough but that one looks amazing.
I had a chance to get a lobster roll Wed. night and now I wish I had. We have a lobster roll food truck here. I'm sure it's not as good, though!

  9. A Deere on the trail! Nice one! And a lobster roll? Divine :). I have hiked with mosquitos many times, it is not fun, but your views seemed like they were worth it. And the climb!

I'm sorry you didn't get to see your favorite inn keepers, though.
