What I've Been Watching Lately, Spring 2026

I'm still watching many of the shows I mentioned in my last TV post (here). But for today's post I wanted to focus on "new" things I'm watching. Now they can be new shows or movies that have recently come out but more than likely they are things I've stumbled upon lately and just started watching for the first time.

1. Best Medicine (Hulu-- 1 season with season 2 in the works)--  This show is so quirky and I'm kind of surprised I like it so much but I do. Doctor Best left Boston and took up a job in a very small Maine town with lots of oddball characters that Maine is sort of known for having.  But even with some eye rolling on my part it is rather cute and Doctor Best, though rather grumpy, has a good heart.

2. Night Court (Netflix-- 3 seasons)--  I remember watching the original Night Court and so we gave this short-lived reboot a try. When Harry's daughter become a judge of the night court in New York she convinces Dan Fielding to come out of retirement and work as a defense attorney. There are occasional guest appearances by Roz but if not for the nostalgia I'm not sure I would have kept watching. The writing and jokes are pretty good for the first few episodes but then they just started getting really out there.

3. DMV (Paramount+-- just one season)-- Set in a DMV office in California this set of oddball characters are rather funny in that (obviously) none of them love their job. Often forced to deal with surly customers and the possibility their branch office might be shut down they are reluctant friends and try to make their days as bearable as possible.

4.  Greek (Hulu-- 4 seasons)-- From the early 2000's I just saw this show on Hulu one day and decided to watch. The entire 4 seasons take place on a college campus in Ohio and mostly center around a core group of kids from both fraternity and sorority houses. It's filled with all that teen angst and drama with lots of drinking and partying thrown in. There are some rather huge plot holes-- like they're in Ohio but there is never any snow, 2 characters drive to Martha's Vineyard (off the coast of Massachusetts) for the weekend, things like that... but it's really cute and fun.

5. Memory of a Killer (Hulu-- 1 season with season 2 on the way)-- We enjoyed season 1 so much! Patrick Dempsey plays a hit man working for the mob but he leads a double live on the side. As he starts showing signs of early Alzheimer's the line between the two worlds start to blur both in his head and in both of his worlds.

6. Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice (Hulu-- movie)-- I normally do not like movies about time travel but this one was rather cute and funny and easy enough to follow. Nick uses a time machine to travel back in time and stop Mike from dying but the two have a complicated relationship since Mike is sleeping with Nick's wife Alice.

7. R J Decker (Hulu-- 1 season)-- Ex-con and ex- newspaper photographer RJ Decker is now working as a PI down in Florida. He stumbles onto some really oddball cases but with the help of his friends he is often able to solve them.

8. Revenge (Hulu--4 seasons)-- An older show from 2011, I really am glad I'm stumbled upon this one. I haven't finished the series yet but hopefully it keeps going as strong as it has been. Emily moves to the Hamptons with the goal of destroying the family that framed her father. But she's not the only devious one as there are lots of secrets and lies and schemes going on.

9. Remarkable Bright Creatures (Netflix)-- I loved this movie adaptation of one my favorite books. Sally Fields plays a women who's job it is to clean the aquarium at the end of the night and befriends the octopus that lives there. It sounds a bit weird to be sure but it completely works.
