Share 4 Somethings in May
Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month and time for Share 4 Somethings with Jenn. This year we're sharing something we loved, something that sustained us, something we're carrying forward, and something we're making space for each month.
Something I loved: Obviously I LOVED our trip to Utah at the start of the month! I'm sure you're getting sick of these photos by now... but too bad. LOL
Canyonlands:
Arches:
Capitol Reef:
Bryce Canyon:
Red Canyon:
Zion:
I've loved eating outside this month-- both in Utah and at home.
I loved some really beautiful sunsets and sunrises this month:
I LOVED our early anniversary dinner last weekend:
Something that sustained me: Oh we ate SO good this month! This is what has literally sustained me this month as well as lots of family time and tons and tons of great books.
Something I'm carrying forward: I've had to remind myself quite a few times this month that these moments are fleeting. I feel like so much of my house has been a mess-- we have piles of stuff waiting to go back to college with Alec, piles of things set aside for Evan to bring to college, my dining table was made into a mini greenhouse with all of Alec's starter seed/plants, there are shoes galore by the front door and almost always dishes in the sink (even when the dishwasher is empty and ready for dirty dishes)... I could yell and wail and make everyone miserable but I just remind myself that in a few years I'm going to miss all of this. The house will be empty before I know it and I really want to soak up these final few years-- annoyances and all.
Something I'm making space for: We got rid of some older/broken suitcases and made new for a couple new ones. I also finished swapping out my closet from fall/winter to spring/summer and got rid of another bag of clothing items.

I can never get tired of the photos from your trip. I love them all and have really been enjoying reading your recaps, even though I’ve been a bit behind. You’re so right about enjoying the mess that comes with having a full house. I read somewhere that it’s important to remember we are living in the good old days right now. Have a great weekend! ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteWe need new suitcases as well! It's not been a priority; it's something I really only think about when I'm packing and see the old suitcases! Your food pics all look so good! Yes, part of our house is in a state of storage/chaos but I do know that it's temporary. It will be so odd when all of the kids move out (post college) and we'll mostly just have their childhood things like toys I've saved and their school paperwork.
ReplyDeleteUs too! I bought 2 new ones right before we left for Utah for the boys and next time we have to fly I plan to purchase two new ones for my husband and I. I didn't save any toys or paperwork so I think our house might just be really, really empty. We'll see... though I don't think any of them have plans to move out anytime all that soon.
DeleteWhat a fabulous trip! I love that you are savoring all these moments.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI felt the same way about all the stuff and now it's gone and it's sad. Lol. Well, they didn't do a good job cleaning out bedrooms or basement hang out room but the shoes and stuff laying around are now gone. Now it's dog toys everywhere.
ReplyDeleteYou had a good food month!
I have not had a good reading month overall! Sad! I am going to the library today, though.
I hope you find some new fabulous books!
DeleteI loved reading about your month! What a full one it was. Those pictures from your trip are absolutely stunning...but so are the ones of your own backyard lake and the sunset views. I feel so fortunate that we live in such a beautiful world! These are all things that sustain me...I always feel close to God at such moments. Thanks for linking up this month!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It really was a full month.
DeleteCan't be tired of those views!
ReplyDeleteThat's how I feel but others may not agree.
DeleteUtah is definitely on my list of places to visit! We spent way too much money this May, so I am buckling down in June (after our vacation), with budget meals, and focusing on free outings!
