Styling Spring Trends/Silk Scarves with Ageless Style

It's the third Thursday of the month and time for another ageless style challenge. This month Bo picked a list of spring trends for us to pick from and style so each person will most likely end up with a different spring trend to focus on. Since it really, really does not feel like spring here yet I picked silk scarves as the trend to focus on. 

As much as I love scarves and wear them year round, I actually didn't have any silk ones... so I turned to Amazon! I found 1 I really liked (in 2 patterns) and have had fun styling them. I bought this scarf in "pink & yellow blossoms" "oil painting irises."

I tend to like the long rectangular scarves best as I can tie them so many ways.  Wrapped around the neck a few times and tied. 

Same outfit, different tie on the scarf, and swapped out the socks/shoes for a bit more of a spring feel. 


 I tied the ends together of my other scarf and used it like an infinity scarf.

 

This time I folded the scarf in half then knotted opposite corners together to make a wider kerchief style scarf.

 


 

This last one isn't a silk scarf; but it is a super cute little square scarf that has me thinking of spring with it's purple tones and floral pattern.

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. 3 Things Thursday

I haven't done a 3 Things Thursday since November of 2023; I had hoped to make it a fairly regular thing but turns out coming up with 3 things to share about each of us at the same time is much harder than I thought. I also struggle with what to share about other family members now that the boys are all adults-- luckily mine don't seem to care all that much (unless it's photos and then they are quite vocal so I always check with them first).  Ian  1. Ian bought himself another piece of equipment for his business. It's fun watching him zip around in the skid steer to move snow piles around. I guess I should mention what his business is! He's started a hardscaping business. That means he does things like lay patios, build walk ways, build retaining walls, etc. Mostly working with block and stone. Share Our Lives: How I Stay Connected with My Spouse

This month for Share Our lives we're talking about staying connected. I decided to focus on how my husband and I have stayed connected all these years. We began dating at 16 which means we've been together more than 30 years!   From the time my boys were very young I was very aware of the fact that my marriage was meant to be my lifelong relationship and while I'd obviously have a relationship with my boys for their whole lives as well (I hoped!) I knew it was my job to raise them to leave. 15 Family Restaurant Games

When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant.  That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. While there are many phone apps, portable gaming systems and electronic games that could occupy my kids we prefer to use the time together at restaurants to connect with one another and so we tend to play games like: Hangman--   any restaurant that has paper place mats works well for this.  We take turns picking  a word and drawing our hangman stand then take turns calling out letters and seeing if we can solve the puzzle.   Tic Tac Toe-- This works best with pen on paper place mats but we have played making a grid with butter knives ...

Our Family's Egg Roll in a Bowl Recipe

 I first saw an egg roll in a bowl on Holly's blog and we followed her recipe exactly but as time went on I started adding other things to our recipe so while I'm sure it's not really an egg roll in a bowl recipe with our additions the name stuck. We do like the addition of more fruits and veggies and I hope you do too!    Ingredients: Makes 4 very large servings if eating by itself 6 servings if you serve it over rice. 1.3 lbs ground lean turkey (or beef/chicken/tofu crumbles) 1 small onion; chopped  2 cloves garlic; minced  1/2 head of cabbage; shredded (about 6 cups) 1 cup shredded carrot 2 cups pineapple chunks 1 cup sliced mushrooms  1 handful pea pods   2 Tablespoons soy sauce or coconut aminos 1 Tablespoon ginger 1 pinch of red pepper flakes or 1 tsp hoisin sauce   Optional cooked rice to serve it over   First I cook up the ground turkey with the garlic and onion until the turkey is cooked through and the onions are nice and sof...
