Talking About it Tuesday #107
Oh wow; what a weird, weird week it's been! Last Tuesday I headed off to Yoga class but less than 1/4 of the way through the class I was hit with what I was so sure was a stomach bug (cold sweat, dizziness, stomach pain, etc) so I left, went home, and rested.... and 4 hours later everything passed and I felt fine. Ate lunch, dinner, etc. Weird but glad to be feeling better I shrugged it off-- still have no clue what that was but I've felt fine ever since.
Then on Wednesday we noticed our thermostat turned red which means there's a problem with our heating system. Luckily my husband is one of those guys with skills and got it working again (since it was only 5 when we woke up the next morning!). The heat had stopped working again at some point in the night but the house was still 60 and he worked to get it going again and ordered the parts we need to fix it for good. Another oddity but not unheard of. I shrugged that off too.
Then Thursday morning I'm sitting in the kitchen getting ready to water the plants and hear someone let themselves in, go into the basement and I'm thinking it's my husband working on the heat or Ian picking something up for work when I see a woman walk by, go out through our garage and open the door. I walk over and am greeted by a different woman walking in carrying cleaning supplies followed by the first lady I saw carrying a vacuum. They speak next to no English but I'm able to communicate that they are in the wrong place and I clean my own house. The address on her phone is mine but the code for the door, the name, the phone number, etc. is all wrong. She calls her boss, who thankfully does speak English and yep, they needed to be down the road a ways at one of our neighbors house... definitely the weirdest and much harder to shake off! As soon as they left I fired off a text to my husband and oldest son reminding them that THAT is why I ALWAYS lock the door whether I am home or not!
I'm hoping for a rather normal and quiet week this week!

This party will remain open until the weekend. My hope is that everyone will share all sorts of wonderful posts: travel, recipes, how to's, crafting ideas, and more-- up to 3 posts per blog. Anything that is family friendly is welcome; even old posts that you'd like to get some new views.

It would be so startling to see strangers inside your home (when you hadn't let them in!). Goodness! That must have been the strangest feeling to see/hear someone in your house whom you didn't let in. I do hope your week is normal and quiet!! Thanks for the link up.
ReplyDeleteIt was really, really strange!
DeleteHappy Tuesday Joanne! Thanks bunches for hosting and warm hospitality each week. I'm sitting at #12 this week.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great week ahead.
You're welcome!
DeleteI'm glad that whatever you had passed quickly! I don't know what I would have thought seeing people walk through my house...holy cow. That's so freaky!
ReplyDeleteLuckily Evan was home too though I think he was more freaked out than I was. Thankfully they looked really harmless and unassuming... we've had people show up to do outside work that didn't belong here but that was the first time someone had ever walked in!
DeleteHow weird and scary! You would think they would have knocked? Eek! Glad your illness passed and thankful for a handy husband.
ReplyDeleteThat's what Evan said! "Why didn't they at least knock or ring the bell before walking in?"
DeleteThat is a crazy week!! What a scary miscommunication.
ReplyDeleteI can laugh about it now but it did not feel so funny at the time!
DeleteOh my Gosh! What a scary moment for you! And why did they not knock???
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling better. Sometimes vitamins will do that to me.
I sure hope you have a better week.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
I haven't figured that out yet! I for sure would have knocked or rang the bell even if I did have the code... just in case.
DeleteIt's funny that you say that about vitamins, it didn't dawn on me until this weekend when my husband mentioned that zinc bothers him because I had taken a whole zinc pill on an empty stomach before class and I'm betting that's what it was!
Oh wow! A weird week, indeed! I'm glad whatever the stomach issue was passed quickly. My husband is handy, too, thankfully, and can usually figure out how to fix things around the house.
ReplyDeleteHow scary to have someone just walk into your house! My husband grew up in small towns where his dad not only left the keys in his car, but left them in the ignition! My family moved to a big city when I was in high school, and you just never left anything unlocked, much less with the keys in sight. That was our first big disagreement when we got married. :-) Thankfully, he doesn't leave keys in the car any more and is better about locking up both the house and cars.
Thank you! My husband and I have had that same disagreement but his step-father worked for our local precinct and told me that it was a good thing I locked the house and car doors since they actually caught someone trying to break into my car once at our first house. I've never forgotten that and to this day I am pretty fanatical about locking the doors.
DeleteYou did have a strange few days! Finding strangers in/on our property would be so unsettling! Hopefully this week will be a quiet one for you all!
ReplyDeleteWe actually find them on our property often since GPS does not work on our road but it's much more unsettling when it's inside the house! I was fully prepared for them to give me my next door neighbor's name as I've had 9-1-1, home health aides, and grocery deliveries come here instead of there before but I didn't know the name she was showing me.
DeleteYou sure did have a strange week, Joanne. I always keep my doors locked, too. A neighbor once laughed at me for it, but you've just proved my point. Thankfully it was just the cleaning ladies!
ReplyDeleteYes, thankfully!
DeleteWeird, weirder, and weirdest!
ReplyDeleteYou have had quite a week!
LOL, yep, thankfully this one is seeming to be rather "normal."
DeleteJoann,
ReplyDeleteThere is a stomach virus going around...I would still have my heating system checked professionally. My Dad worked in construction but he always told me to call a professional when it comes to heating, large electrical and plumbing jobs because should any damages incur because of an unlicensed person doing repairs or any work, your home owner's insurance will not compensate you...And the women in your house would have scared the bejesus out of me..Contrary to most people in NEPA who grew up not locking their doors, my mother was the oppossite and taught me to always have the doors locked especially when I would be home alone....My son gets annoyed with me if the door is still locked when he comes for dinner...LOL! I hope this week is better for you...
Thanks so much for stopping by!!
For today's party, I am linking up # 20, 22 and 23!
Thanks so much for hosting this wonderful party!! I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into it along with visiting all the links!! I hope you are having a great week!!

No one in our area knows much about our heating system; we use what is called a ground water heat system that is popular out west. My husband does know a few people in the industry so he did call and get an expert opinion but we installed it ourselves and have fixed every issue with them for the last 20 years. He also does all our electrical and plumbing too. It helps that we did the bulk of our work building this house so we know how things are hooked up and I even have photos of what/how we did things to jog our memories.
DeleteMy husband gives me grief for always locking the doors; sometimes I even lock my car when it's parked in our garage and it drives him nuts but that's how I've always been.
Yikes! I feel the same way when we see folks in our driveway and were not expecting visitors! Being so rural, we just don't get drop by company. Thanks so much for the feature of my granola recipe, and by all means feel great and enjoy your week ahead.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we live at the end of a private road so we don't often see strangers either. But because of that GPS doesn't really work on our road either so I'm used to people knocking on the door looking for one of our neighbors but I am always thrown when I see someone poking around.
DeleteThose are some crazy instances! The cleaning company would have freaked me out the most for sure! Thank you for hosting the party!
ReplyDeleteRight?! That was incredibly bizarre.
DeleteI'm glad you are feeling better. It's great that you have a handy husband to fix the heat situation. Not a great time to not have any heat. I would have been so scared about someone in my house! We always keep our door locked and same for our windows! I hope you have a better week Joanne. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I try to keep all doors and windows locked at all times but my oldest and my husband aren't nearly as fanatical as I am (in fact my husband teases me & calls me "the warden").
DeleteOMG- what a week you had! 🤣
ReplyDeleteYou can't make this stuff up!
DeleteOh what a real weird and crazy week dear Joanne, hope this week will be a fine one. Mine was without any unnormal happenings. Only a cold kept me a bit of my planned skiing activities.
ReplyDeleteHave a good time
Violetta
Aw, thank you!
DeleteWow--that was definitely a strange week for you! I hope your heating system is working well now, and that you do not get another episode of stomach pain, and the cleaning women are given the right address from now on. As former city dwellers we always lock our doors, but I know many who do not lock their house or car doors.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine that; if my oldest hadn't left for work out the front door it would have been locked... though I've noticed he's been locking it behind him every day since!
DeleteStrange and odd week for sure, sure do not like your Thursday cleaning lady episode.
ReplyDeleteMorning Joanne, thank you for a lovely party

Aw, thank you! Thankfully it ended up being okay in the end but it was definitely eerie.
