Talking About it Tuesday #107
Oh wow; what a weird, weird week it's been! Last Tuesday I headed off to Yoga class but less than 1/4 of the way through the class I was hit with what I was so sure was a stomach bug (cold sweat, dizziness, stomach pain, etc) so I left, went home, and rested.... and 4 hours later everything passed and I felt fine. Ate lunch, dinner, etc. Weird but glad to be feeling better I shrugged it off-- still have no clue what that was but I've felt fine ever since.
Then on Wednesday we noticed our thermostat turned red which means there's a problem with our heating system. Luckily my husband is one of those guys with skills and got it working again (since it was only 5 when we woke up the next morning!). The heat had stopped working again at some point in the night but the house was still 60 and he worked to get it going again and ordered the parts we need to fix it for good. Another oddity but not unheard of. I shrugged that off too.
Then Thursday morning I'm sitting in the kitchen getting ready to water the plants and hear someone let themselves in, go into the basement and I'm thinking it's my husband working on the heat or Ian picking something up for work when I see a woman walk by, go out through our garage and open the door. I walk over and am greeted by a different woman walking in carrying cleaning supplies followed by the first lady I saw carrying a vacuum. They speak next to no English but I'm able to communicate that they are in the wrong place and I clean my own house. The address on her phone is mine but the code for the door, the name, the phone number, etc. is all wrong. She calls her boss, who thankfully does speak English and yep, they needed to be down the road a ways at one of our neighbors house... definitely the weirdest and much harder to shake off! As soon as they left I fired off a text to my husband and oldest son reminding them that THAT is why I ALWAYS lock the door whether I am home or not!
I'm hoping for a rather normal and quiet week this week!

This party will remain open until the weekend. My hope is that everyone will share all sorts of wonderful posts: travel, recipes, how to's, crafting ideas, and more-- up to 3 posts per blog. Anything that is family friendly is welcome; even old posts that you'd like to get some new views.

It would be so startling to see strangers inside your home (when you hadn't let them in!). Goodness! That must have been the strangest feeling to see/hear someone in your house whom you didn't let in. I do hope your week is normal and quiet!! Thanks for the link up.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday Joanne! Thanks bunches for hosting and warm hospitality each week. I'm sitting at #12 this week.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great week ahead.
I'm glad that whatever you had passed quickly! I don't know what I would have thought seeing people walk through my house...holy cow. That's so freaky!
ReplyDeleteHow weird and scary! You would think they would have knocked? Eek! Glad your illness passed and thankful for a handy husband.
ReplyDeleteThat is a crazy week!! What a scary miscommunication.
ReplyDeleteOh my Gosh! What a scary moment for you! And why did they not knock???
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling better. Sometimes vitamins will do that to me.
I sure hope you have a better week.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Oh wow! A weird week, indeed! I'm glad whatever the stomach issue was passed quickly. My husband is handy, too, thankfully, and can usually figure out how to fix things around the house.
ReplyDeleteHow scary to have someone just walk into your house! My husband grew up in small towns where his dad not only left the keys in his car, but left them in the ignition! My family moved to a big city when I was in high school, and you just never left anything unlocked, much less with the keys in sight. That was our first big disagreement when we got married. :-) Thankfully, he doesn't leave keys in the car any more and is better about locking up both the house and cars.
You did have a strange few days! Finding strangers in/on our property would be so unsettling! Hopefully this week will be a quiet one for you all!
ReplyDeleteYou sure did have a strange week, Joanne. I always keep my doors locked, too. A neighbor once laughed at me for it, but you've just proved my point. Thankfully it was just the cleaning ladies!
ReplyDeleteWeird, weirder, and weirdest!
ReplyDeleteYou have had quite a week!
Joann,
ReplyDeleteThere is a stomach virus going around...I would still have my heating system checked professionally. My Dad worked in construction but he always told me to call a professional when it comes to heating, large electrical and plumbing jobs because should any damages incur because of an unlicensed person doing repairs or any work, your home owner's insurance will not compensate you...And the women in your house would have scared the bejesus out of me..Contrary to most people in NEPA who grew up not locking their doors, my mother was the oppossite and taught me to always have the doors locked especially when I would be home alone....My son gets annoyed with me if the door is still locked when he comes for dinner...LOL! I hope this week is better for you...
Thanks so much for stopping by!!
For today's party, I am linking up # 20, 22 and 23!

Yikes! I feel the same way when we see folks in our driveway and were not expecting visitors! Being so rural, we just don't get drop by company. Thanks so much for the feature of my granola recipe, and by all means feel great and enjoy your week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThose are some crazy instances! The cleaning company would have freaked me out the most for sure! Thank you for hosting the party!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are feeling better. It's great that you have a handy husband to fix the heat situation. Not a great time to not have any heat. I would have been so scared about someone in my house! We always keep our door locked and same for our windows! I hope you have a better week Joanne. :)
ReplyDeleteOMG- what a week you had! 🤣
