Talking About it Tuesday #106

Hello February! I sure hope it feels like the short month it is promised to be. February and March can be brutal up here in New England but I always have hopes that since February is a short month that it will actually feel that way... even though it rarely does. We do have some fun plans though so hopefully that will help.

    We have some plans this weekend but other than that, not anything that I can think of for the month. My February is usually very activity "lite" and that doesn't bother me. I still feel like I'm in hibernation mode- getting rest figuratively and literally before busier months. Thanks for the link up!

      We tend to have very few plans in winter... and those we make are always tentative and weather dependent.

    Thanks so much for all your visits!! Winter is far from over here in NEPA...We have gotten some of our best snowstorms in March...Had a bit of a warm up this week...into the 20's but the bottom will drop out again over the weekend when we are not expected to get out of the single digits on Saturday...

      Oh it's far from over here too. I can remember quite a few years getting of our worst snowstorms in March.. and even snow into April & May! It's supposed to get real cold again this weekend.

    Our snowiest month is usually March, so I am hoping that occurs again this year as our state is low in snowpack this winter. I like the looks of the blueberry cast iron coffee cake--we had blueberry pancakes yesterday morning--so good!

    Hmmm...I am planning "hopefully" to do a hike Friday on a simple trail at a state park. I AM NEEDING TRAIL TIME. LOL!!!! I am also tentatively planning to attend a Tea Saturday with a friend. But things are so up in the air with our weather.

    I know what you mean about hoping February goes quickly. When we lived in New England, it was ROUGH. Here in Denver, we've had highs in the 50s for weeks. I'll take it! :) Thanks so much for hosting!

    The only plans I have for some point this month is to buy some new clothes because I really need to do that! It has been too long! That and trying to stay warm!

Last Tuesday, September 30th, Evan and I had tickets to see 21 Pilots in concert in Hartford Ct. The show was at an indoor/outdoor venue called the Xfinity Center (not to be confused with the other indoor/outdoor Xfinitiy Center in Massachusetts). We had never been to the Xfinity Center and had no idea what to expect. Reviews online were not favorable but we really enjoyed it. I'll liberally sprinkle photos in around all the details, feel free to skip them and just look- most of the details are for me to remember anyway!  I wore comfy clothes with large pockets so I didn't need to bring a bag with me. 15 Family Restaurant Games

When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant.  That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. While there are many phone apps, portable gaming systems and electronic games that could occupy my kids we prefer to use the time together at restaurants to connect with one another and so we tend to play games like: Hangman--   any restaurant that has paper place mats works well for this.  We take turns picking  a word and drawing our hangman stand then take turns calling out letters and seeing if we can solve the puzzle.   Tic Tac Toe-- This works best with pen on paper place mats but we have played making a grid with butter knives ...

Share Our Lives: How I Stay Connected with My Spouse

This month for Share Our lives we're talking about staying connected. I decided to focus on how my husband and I have stayed connected all these years. We began dating at 16 which means we've been together more than 30 years!   From the time my boys were very young I was very aware of the fact that my marriage was meant to be my lifelong relationship and while I'd obviously have a relationship with my boys for their whole lives as well (I hoped!) I knew it was my job to raise them to leave. The whole point of parenthood is to send our kids out into the world so while I wanted a strong relationship with all 4 of my guys I never lost sight of the fact that for me, my most important relationship was that with my husband.    Basically, it all boils down to I've never stopped dating my husband.     a date night outfit   We made sure to schedule date nights as often as we could. Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. Highlights & Favorites: A Sentence a Day February 2026

Well, I feel pretty safe in saying this is one February we're never going to forget! With a record breaking blizzard that hit at the end of the month and stranded Evan and I down in North Carolina for 3+ additional/unplanned days it sure ended with a bang.  1.  Thankful for a lazy day with no plans.  A lazy day watching TV and resting around the house. 2,483 steps.  2. So thankful to get out of the house and enjoy some shopping.  Gym, school with Evan, library (that was STILL closed; the heating has been broke for nearly a week now), Target, Lowe's, home to work on housework & cards. 9,239 steps.   3.  So thankful the stomach pains subsided a few hours after returning home from yoga.  Attempted yoga at the gym, came home 1/2 way through feeling sick and spent a lazy day on the computer and watching TV; rallied in the afternoon to clean the upstairs and make dinner. 3,139 steps.   4.
