Talking About it Tuesday #104

I was so excited to see so many Valentine themed posts showing up already. I feel like it is so far away but really it's just 3 1/2 weeks away. While we don't do anything big I do love to celebrate in small ways like making handmade cards for the men in my life and buying some sweet treats for them to enjoy. I'm sure my husband and I will have a date night... just not on actual Valentine's day! We like to avoid the crowds. 
 
Apparently we all love to see some love since last week's post most definitely celebrated love!

    Thanks for another week of Talking About It Tuesday, Joanne. The months go by so fast, as do holidays! I usually make a favorite dinner for St Valentine's Day and my husband gives me roses which makes a winter week feel more festive.

    Happy Tuesday, Joanne! We usually try to go out for Valentine's Day, too, especially since it also happens to be my birthday. However, this year the actual date is a Saturday so we may be staying in that night! We're not big fans of crowds either! Thanks so much for the party!

      Oh how fun that it's also your birthday! I also don't like the prix fix menu most restaurants near us offer (though I get why they do that; a whole restaurant filled with 2 tops makes for a very busy kitchen!).

    Our anniversary is two days away from Valentine's Day. We never go out then, we don't love the crowds either!

      Yeah that is the trouble with getting married near a holiday; our anniversary always falls during Memorial day weekend and while restaurants aren't crazy the traffic usually is!

    Our plan this year is to have the spouse of a friend of my husband to come over on Valentine's so she won't be alone. We will try to get a date in at some point that month.

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. 21 Pilots The Clancy Tour Breach 2025

Last Tuesday, September 30th, Evan and I had tickets to see 21 Pilots in concert in Hartford Ct. The show was at an indoor/outdoor venue called the Xfinity Center (not to be confused with the other indoor/outdoor Xfinitiy Center in Massachusetts). We had never been to the Xfinity Center and had no idea what to expect. Reviews online were not favorable but we really enjoyed it. I'll liberally sprinkle photos in around all the details, feel free to skip them and just look- most of the details are for me to remember anyway!  I wore comfy clothes with large pockets so I didn't need to bring a bag with me. I carried just my phone (with my credit card tucked inside), keys, and ear plugs. We were surprised to find ourselves so close to the stage! We got an email a few days prior outlining what time the parking lots and various things opened including the doors and decided to switch up our plans a lot. 3 Things Thursday

I haven't done a 3 Things Thursday since November of 2023; I had hoped to make it a fairly regular thing but turns out coming up with 3 things to share about each of us at the same time is much harder than I thought. I also struggle with what to share about other family members now that the boys are all adults-- luckily mine don't seem to care all that much (unless it's photos and then they are quite vocal so I always check with them first).  Ian  1. Ian bought himself another piece of equipment for his business. It's fun watching him zip around in the skid steer to move snow piles around. I guess I should mention what his business is! He's started a hardscaping business. That means he does things like lay patios, build walk ways, build retaining walls, etc. Mostly working with block and stone. Share 4 Somethings in August

Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month the time for the Share 4 Somethings link up with Jennifer.  I really enjoy this cute little wrap up of the month even if it might overlap a bit with my What's Up Wednesday posts.  I hope you all don't mind too much!    As always we're looking at what we Loved, Learned, Read, and Ate this month.  Loved-- Seeing my family! My aunt drove up with her husband from North Carolina and her brother drove up from Florida so we had a big family cookout with my mom and my brother and his family.  It was so wonderful to see everyone and we had such beautiful weather too. (Though I am cracking up seeing all these serious faces in my photos! LOL- I swear we all had a fabulous time!).  Learned-- We learned about a "new" Wildlife Sanctuary not that far from us called Norcross and we went to check it out my mom, my aunt, and my aunt's husband. 15 Family Restaurant Games

When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant.  That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Now that the boys are older we don't keep a bag of toys handy but we do have few games we use to keep the boys occupied if they start getting bored or squirmy while we're waiting for our food or our check. While there are many phone apps, portable gaming systems and electronic games that could occupy my kids we prefer to use the time together at restaurants to connect with one another and so we tend to play games like: Hangman--   any restaurant that has paper place mats works well for this.  We take turns picking  a word and drawing our hangman stand then take turns calling out letters and seeing if we can solve the puzzle.   Tic Tac Toe-- This works best with pen on paper place mats but we have played making a grid with butter knives ...
