Share Our Lives: Staying Warm in Winter
This month for Share Our lives we're talking about how we stay warm in winter.
Wearing lots of warm layers
Dressing for the season when we need to be outside.
We keep throw blankets in nearly every room of the house and my favorite is the electric heated throw blanket.
We use our fireplace and wood stove in winter to keep the house cozy.
We have rechargeable battery heated gloves, winter jackets, hand warmers, etc. (I mean we don't all have ALL of those but several of us have one or two of those) and they really help when we have to be outside for long periods of time.
I used to be so awful at dressing for the weather and that made a big difference in how cold I always felt. I'm still pretty stubborn about it and more often than not my coat is thrown into the backseat of the car so I rely heavily on my heated steering wheel and heated seats in the car.
I hope you'll join us next month when we talk about TV shows we love to binge

Oh wow, Joanne! Your winters look so pretty, but they must be freezing! These are great tips! Ruth@playworkeatrepeat
ReplyDeleteLuckily the super cold weather comes and goes and we get little warm ups here and there that make it seem a bit more bearable.
DeleteI like your last tip the best, lol! We had a super cold Saturday and Sunday and I did just that- for the most part, I stayed inside. I, too, love throw blankets and the fireplace.
ReplyDeleteThat is my preferred way of dealing with winter; I'd happily hibernate the whole season away!
DeleteI love the heated seat in my hubbie's car! You dress very stylishly for the winter. We also have some beautiful warm throw blankets for the winter, mainly for time in front of the TV, though we haven't yet upgraded to an electric blanket.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteYes! Us New Englanders are pros at keeping warm in the winter right? Nothing beats heated seats for sure!
ReplyDeleteFor sure; though I don't know why I resisted proper weather gear for so long and just complained while shivering...
DeleteI complain about the cold here but looking at that snowy picture makes it seem much colder with you! Eek! All your layered outfits look so good and I would love a proper wood burner in my house.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much!
DeleteDown where we are there are so many wind tunnels so it's hard to stay warm no matter how warm I dress. I put extra blankets on my bed, but it makes it so hard getting out in the morning, I'm too cozy!
ReplyDeleteLiving on the lake we get little break from the freezing wind too and hear it making all sort of popping and pinging sounds all winter long.
DeleteJust got in from light shoveling and it's cold out today but ... soooo nice too. There's a refreshing part of winter that I love. Wishing you a fun week ahead.
ReplyDeleteI do love that moment I walk inside from outside and am enveloped in immediate warmth!
DeleteI bet you are a pro staying warm in the cold since you are a native to the northeast! Like many things, if you are prepared with the right equipment/clothing, it helps you deal with it. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI'm weird about using blankets in the house because I don't like when I get up and feel cold again!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely; I find I get real lazy when that heated blanket goes on...
DeleteYou certainly know how to dress for winter. Living in Florida, my clothes are mostly cotton and too thin for cold weather. It's going down to freezing Wednesday morning and I have a doctor's appointment first thing. Yuck! I just order new sweatpants on Amazon yesterday for arrival today so I'll be ready! #MMBC
ReplyDeleteYeah, being prepared sure helps! I hope your new pants help keep you warm.
DeleteThis was fun. Decided to join in.
ReplyDeleteOh good!
DeleteI need this advice today! Its cold for us here at 30 degrees. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, that is quite chilly!
DeleteJoanne, these are great ways of staying warm. I love wearing layers of clothes and you always wear such nice sweaters and outfits. Stay warm! :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much!
