Fall Vests with Ageless Style

It's the third Thursday of the month and time for another ageless style challenge. This month Jodie picked styling vests. I do enjoy a good vest out but I only own 2 vests so my style choices don't change much. I decided to do a round up post of the various ways I've styled my favorite vest in the past. 


My favorite vest is a quilted navy blue vest I got in one of the first Stitch Fix boxes I ever received. I love all shades of blue so this was a great addition to my closet. I typically pair the vest with a blouse or sweater, a pair of jeans, and some booties. 








 

To me this is a very classic "fall in New England" type of outfit.

    I only have a couple of vests, too, and I do find myself reaching for my more neutral one fairly often. Your outfits are styled really nicely- that blue is a great color and goes well with jeans and khakis.

    Vests are just great! I had a bunch and donated most of them. Now, I regret it. I still have a black one very much like this one of yours. And, of course, I have my new leopard one! I think they are a great jacket alternative for running errands or for someone who runs hot.

      I have only ever owned this one and one other fleece lined one though I don't like the fleece lined one nearly as much since it looks really bulky.

    Gosh I love a good vest- my newest addition is a kelly green one- I feel it will be great for the holidays with festive sweaters and tops underneath

      I definitely prefer it to a coat and have worn some thin sweaters underneath mine too.

    I own a burgundy quilted winter vest similar to yours and I think I reach for that more than my winter coat. It is better for running around in winter weather when you're just jumping from your car to a store than a full winter coat. I use to have them in all different colors: white, blue, etc., but I narrowed it down to just burgundy and a thin black one.

      It definitely is; though I rarely wear a coat for winter errands (just keep it in the car in case of an emergency) but I hate carrying it around the store and I always get too hot to keep it on. I'd like to get a thin black one; I think I would get a lot of use out of that.

    I love that on you! i've never had a puffer vest but love them on everybody else. I only have a few sweater vests.

      Thank you! I would never have thought to buy one or even try it on if it hadn't come in a Stitch Fix box. But I'm so glad I kept it!

    I really like this quilted vest: some warmth without adding bulk and it is a great universal color: navy! I have a cropped puffer vest that I enjoy when it is cold and another one with a fur hood (that one I wear less). I did get rid of a few, but still enjoy the variety that I have.

      I mostly wear them in fall when most people wear light jackets as I rarely think to grab a jacket.

    You look so good in blue, Joanne! What a gorgeous vest! I love the look of those vests, but I just don't like them on me. I think it's because the collar always sticks up too far. I also get too cold in them so I might as well wear a coat.

When my boys were little and we'd take them out to eat I kept a small bag of toys in the car to grab on our way into any restaurant.  That way they would be entertained and a bit quieter while we enjoyed our meal. Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. TV Shows I LOVE

I have wanted to make a series about shows we're enjoying on TV for several years now but I am so inconsistent with it! I published two posts in 2019 about my favorite shows to binge/rewatch and my favorite shows to watch that season.  Then I remembered to write another post in spring  2024 about favorite shows and movies I had been watching  and once again forgot to ever write another one.  I have well over a year of TV shows we've "discovered" to share. The good news is it will definitely only list those shows I absolutely LOVED. Now these aren't necessarily new shows but they were new to me.    In no particular order those shows include: Landman- - set in Texas this show is a wild ride of oil billionaires, roughnecks, and relationships. What's Up Wednesday: February 2026

It's the last Wednesday of the month and time to link up with Shay and Sheaffer for What's Up Wednesday. I won't have as many photos as usual since they're on my laptop and that is home in CT... I only have the last few days on my phone.   What We're Eating:  Evan and I flew to North Carolina for a long weekend and got stuck here since a blizzard hit the east coast and airports shut down (last I heard Providence RI [where we fly into] got 37.5 inches!). We're Eating things like: Crepes from Our Crepes and More.  Mine was a tiramisu crepe. Then for dinner my mom had homemade meatballs and sauce with spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad.      Breakfast has consisted of yogurt parfait bowls (sorry some photos are sidways and upside I don't have my laptop with me and Blogger is a bit limited on the phone app) or eggs with sourdough toast.  We had a huge family cookout with chicken, burgers, roasted potatoes, veggies, and salad with pineapple...

Talking About it Tuesday #109

Evan and I should've been on our way home from North Carolina today. I wrote this post earlier than usual since I was going to be gone all weekend and leaving my laptop at home. I planned to have a post or two with trip highlights up soon.  But when I was leaving home on Friday I had no idea a huge blizzard was on its way. Our flight home was canceled and it looks like the earliest we can make it home now is Friday. We hope! Though we are supposed to get some snow Wednesday, Thursday and Friday so who knows! Thankfully my parents don't mind the extra unexpected company.     I'm updating this post from my phone at 3pm on Monday and we still have no flight booked home yet as the app keeps crashing with 2 days worth of passengers trying to rebook. It's still snowing at my house and we have a minimum of 2 feet of snow on the ground. Hearing stories of the storm from a far has been wild. My husband could not see the lake out our windows for much of the day! I have no post...
