Share 4 Somethings in October

Since the last Saturday of the month is tomorrow it's just about time for Share 4 Somethings with Jenn. As always we're sharing some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of

Some things I've loved: While this was technically in September it was after the last Share 4 Somethings so I'm counting it-- Evan and I LOVED the 21 Pilots concert. It was an amazing night.

I also loved celebrating my husband's birthday.

We had a lovely date night this weekend; we wanted to try Hell's Kitchen at Foxwoods but they were booked so we went back to David Burke Steakhouse.

yep, I got salmon at a steakhouse!

Alec and I went to dinner and a show at the PPAC last night. We saw SIX and while I'm writing this advance I'm pretty confident it's going to be in he love category for the month. If nothing else I got to see Alec for the first time in over a month! (edited to add in some photos this morning-- it was wonderful!)

Some things I've learned: Oh I learned so much this month about the Common App and how to navigate it from the student's, the teacher's, the parent's, AND the counselor's perspectives since I helped Evan fill out his side and I am his teacher/ parent/ and counselor rolled into one.

Some things that went well: We toured our final college and found one more to add to Evan's list. Nichol's is really pretty! That should bring our applications up to 4 (but we'll see.. one college seems to require homeschoolers to provide SAT scores so they may be off the list but what we were told in person and what we're finding online don't match up so hopefully we'll get that straightened out soon).

Some things I let go of: I pulled all the rest of my fall and winter clothes out of storage and finished packing away all spring/summer stuff and filled up 2 more bags of clothing to get rid of.

  1. 4 great things! I think many colleges let you apply without a test score at all whether you are homeschooled or not so definitely check on that. I have filled out so many common apps!

  4. Your date night meal looks delicious. I prefer salmon to steak almost any day of the week (sometimes a steak does sound good!) That college campus looks really pretty. I'm sure it's especially pretty in the fall. Have a great weekend!

  5. A fun month for sure with some delish meals! How do SATs work for Homeschooled Kiddos? Can they still take them if they choose? I am right there with you! We are going through the Common App too...or just did...she is officially done...applied to 18 schools- eek! Thank God the NH schools were free to apply to.
