Hodgepodge Wednesday
I know it's been ages since I've participated in a Hodgepodge Wednesday but I thought this would be a great week to link up, once again. Joyce provides the questions on Sundays and we link up on Wednesday to share our answers.
1. What do you like most about your family? I don't really know how to answer this one except to say they're all my favorite people! My sons are a lot of fun to be around and my husband is definitely my best friend but branching out I also am pretty close with my siblings and mom and step-father. We laugh so much whenever we're together.
4. What's something you have now you couldn't have imagined having five years ago? How does that make you feel? What's possible now because of it? Five years ago I couldn't have imagined being a mom to 3 adults (they were 13, 14, & 16). Sometimes it make me feel rather old but mostly it makes me feel so proud. I have such GOOD young adults that (for the most part) seem to make pretty good, responsible, and mature decisions. We've found that this makes travel-- solo trips for my husband and I-- so easy and stress free.

technically this was taken in 2019...but I can't find any from 2020
5. Let's wrap this one up with an October this or that...
- pumpkin bread or apple cider donut-- donut
- cozy sweater or cozy hoodie-- I can't pick just one! Though I definitely have more sweaters than hoodies so I guess sweater?
- apple picking or pumpkin picking-- Apple picking for sure
- scary movie or Hallmark movie--NEVER a scary movie (though I'm not a real fan of Hallmark movies either)
- hay ride or corn maze-- Both are fun but I'd say corn maze; we've been through SO many of them!
- twinkle lights or candles-- Twinkle lights (even my candles are electric!)
- autumn hike or autumn bonfire--Obviously hiking is my top pick.
6. Insert your own random thought here. The more colleges we visit the more I am convinced that they all have far more in common with one another than they ever seem to want to admit. They all talk a good talk about being stand alone and different but they're really not (and can't be!).

Great pictures! Love the one of all the boys from a few years ago. I almost answered question four the same way that you did- of course I had an adult child at that time but not three adult kids. Each phase is good and your children being young adult phase sure is nice in so many ways :). Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have really enjoyed something about every single age and stage along the way.
DeleteYou found the perfect pictures of apple picking and corn mazes! Great answers and glad you participated!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteLove your comment about colleges- ha! So very true - it's a scam ;) Anyway, I totally forgot monarch butterflies- they are some of my faves!!
ReplyDeleteLOL!
DeleteYour family does sound wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHow great to find 2 pairs of boots on sale, the date night sounds lovely too!
Oh yes! 5 years ago I couldn't imagine having adult children. It certainly makes life more interesting.
Fab photos!
Aw, thank you!
DeleteI definitely think there's not just one school for a student trying to figure out which one is THE one. I agree kids can be happy and thrive in many campus environments. Young adult 'kids' are so enjoyable and yours all seem to be doing well. So nice to see you in the HP. I love your fall throwback photos!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I never expected my kids to find THE one but knew there were some they'd feel more at home at than others; which is important too.
DeleteLove this post! I also would say the same about the 5 years ago question.

Thank you!
DeleteI agree on the colleges. Yes, an orange sky is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love all the colors of sunrise and sunset.
DeleteI was going to say I couldn't have imagined being a mom of two adults but I think I may have at least thought about it!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I thought about it too but I never imagined it being like this. Much like having teens it seemed like so many people talked about how hard both these stages were but I honestly thought both stages have been so fun and relatively easy.
DeleteWe've gotten pretty lost in some awesome corn mazes, so I'm with you! They are a blast.
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I once panicked so much we could tell and see we were right near a road but could not figure out how to get out; so we sort of GENTLY plowed right through the corn to the road.
DeleteSuch great pictures and that sunset looks absolutely amazing! I love the color orange in most shades, not so much in clothing as not all shades work for me but I love to see it in decorations and in nature such as Monarch butterflies, and my most favorite orange thing... my orange tabby Thomas whom I miss so very much!!
ReplyDeleteI am totally with you about scary movies and Hallmark movies. I think I only ever watched one or two Hallmark movies but would definitely choose one over a scary movie.
It does feel strange to have adult children, mine are 22 and 19... so weird but I am so glad that they also grew up to make responsible decisions.
That's wonderful! I do like orange out in nature.
DeleteI agree about the colleges. I think visiting the campus is so important to see what "vibe" it has aside from the statistics on paper or in the presentation. I also agree about having adult children and your sentiments about your family. I had a hard time answering that question because all I could think of was "they're my favorite people."
ReplyDeleteDefinitely!
DeletePoor orange...it's such an underrated color, LOL
ReplyDeleteXOOX
JOdie
It sure is!
DeleteWhat fun questions! Love all the throwback fall pics too. Time sure does go by fast!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI need to go boot shopping. this last week with the cooler temps really made me realize I can't wear sandals all year.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely the time of year to find some great ones. I really had a hard time picking just a couple. I mostly have sandals in my closet so I really needed something else.
DeleteMy kiddos are in their 30’s now with families of their own. It’s been bittersweet watching them grow up, but this has also been a very tender season of life. Gentle hugs as you begin to navigate through your own season of change.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteYay for new boots! It is strange, at first, when you realize your kids are adults. Then, they become "real" adults with homes and families and jobs. It's so weird to realize they are the age I was when I was so heavily involved in teaching. That isn't the right way to say it, but I hope you get what I mean. And, I love an apple cider donut...fresh and hot with that crispy sugar!

I pretty much only eat cider donuts from the orchard so that they are warm and fresh. Those are the best!
DeleteLoved all your answers and your photos! Great perspective on how wonderful it can be to be the parents of young adults and the freedom we get with that! Hope you're having a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteGreat photos! Would you believe I have never gone apple picking nor had a cider donut?!
ReplyDeleteI do find that hard to believe; but then again we have a good 1/2 dozen orchards with a 20 or 30 minute drive of our house so in fall it's often just part of our weekly routine.
DeleteI love seeing all the photos, especially those of your boys back in the day. It's amazing how quickly they grow up, isn't it? And now, as you said, young men.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteJoanne,
ReplyDeleteAll great photos...They turn from little boys into young men so fast, don't they? Thanks so much for stopping by! I am healing up nicely from my fall.... Glad you got a chuckle out of my son's comment about me wearing an eye patch!! He definitely has his Dad's humor...LOL!
Hugs,
Deb

They sure do!
DeleteYes (double yes) to NEVER a scary movie! Why do that to yourself?? Those are some handsome boys....and they look so young in that picture taken (almost) five years ago! How can so much change in just five years??
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteI've enjoyed watching your sons grow up here. To hear you say three adult sons made me gasp. But then I realized, Ella will be 18 in three months and Anna's 25! 💜
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Yep... 18-21 they're all official adults now.
DeleteLoved your answers. My oldest turns 30 this year and I was like "WHAT!" Lol. I would love to find some new boots...but I have wide calves AND I need a wide toe box boot and that combo is hard to come by sadly.
ReplyDeleteThese are some good questions. How lovely you had a great date with your husband. I think it's beautiful when people have been married for a longer time, and do thingslike that.
