Currently... October 2025
It's the first Wednesday of the month so it's time for the Currently link up with Jenn. The prompts for October are loving, anticipating, looking forward to, wearing, and cooking.
Loving: This time of year I love our hikes and seeing all the pretty leaves.
Evan and I had a fabulous morning at the zoo. I loved seeing all the animals out enjoying our nice weather too.
Anticipating:I am anticipating sleep in this morning. Evan and I went to a concert last night; it was at a new (to us) concert venue. It was an indoor/outdoor venue and we were encouraged to get there super early for parking. Think 4 pm for an 8 pm show! We anticipated large crowds and not getting home until the wee hours of this morning since the venue is easily an hour away and we heard traffic afterwards could be brutal. BUT since I was anticipating having a wonderful time at the show I tried to just focus on the band/music/performance and block all the rest of it out.
Looking forward to: We have a fun month ahead with my husband's birthday dinner, a few fishing trips for my husband and oldest son, a couple of shows for Alec & I, both Alec and Evan are starting new jobs, it should be a great month for everyone.
Wearing: It was 80 here on Monday and Tuesday-- 80! Mostly I'm still wearing summer tops mixed in with capri pants, linen pants, and lightweight fabrics or the occasional jumpsuit.

it was 78 on Friday so I put on my linen pants and tee after hiking

capri pants with a short sleeve/loose weave sweater
Cooking: I made corn fritters, sausage/onions/peppers one night.
I cooked up some whole chickens the other night with broccoli and squash casserole but the only photo I have is of the raw chickens!
![]() |
stuffed them with apples and lemons and seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and rosemary. They were SO tender!

pan fired porgy fish with roasted potatoes and green beans
I made pot roast with butternut squash and potatoes another.

Everything that you´ve made looks so good! That´s great that your weather has been so good and you´ve been able to get out and enjoy the pretty views.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYour food looks good! I am not afraid to see raw chicken! I want to make a crockpot roast and the roast at Kroger is $33! I think I am going to do it with stew meat which is about $11. Darn these grocery prices!
ReplyDeleteWow! I bought 2 roasts that I typically roast together in one large pot and I think I spent around $30. I've noticed our grocery prices aren't as high lately (or else I'm really buying a WHOLE lot less!).
DeleteI can't wait for all the leaves to change! They said it was going to be earlier this year, we willl see.
ReplyDeleteOurs are mostly just falling from the trees and aren't very vibrant but i think they're just so dry.
DeleteLove the shot of the giraffe! Your rust jumpsuit is really cute and looks so comfortable! The chicken you made sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteJill - Doused in Pink
Thank you! That jumpsuit is very comfortable and I thought the color was just perfect for fall.
DeleteI hope the new jobs go well for Alec & Evan!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYour meals look good! It's been so hot here too.
ReplyDeleteI feel like everyone I've talked with (or blog with!) has said it's been a warm and dry start to fall.
DeleteYour meals always looks so delish and healthy! Hope the concert was a blast :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! The concert was incredible! I already spent my morning writing up a whole post about it complete with tons of photos.
DeleteThe pictures from your hikes are so pretty! October sounds like a wonderful month ahead for you guys!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI don't think I have ever heard of porgy fish! Learned something today! I love that you are anticipating a great month ahead! Such a great outlook!! As always, loved your hiking photos. Goodness but I would want to hike every day!!
ReplyDeleteI never had either until he came home with a bag of them... and I took to the internet to figure out how best to prepare them. They are small but really tasty and have just a hint of sweetness.
DeleteThe views from your hikes are so pretty and the one's from the zoo!
ReplyDeleteYou have some great plans for October and yum to the food!
Thank you!
DeleteLove how you can see the seasons changing 😍😍😍

ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteWhat is the zoo that you go to? It looks really nice. I can't believe it was 80 there!
ReplyDeleteThis one was Roger Williams Zoo in Providence but we also sometimes go to Southwick's zoo in Mendon, Mass.
DeleteIt's been hot here, too. We had False Fall a few weeks ago which really got my hopes up!

Our mornings have been cool and feel like fall but that's about it.
DeleteOh my goodness, that porgy dish brings back lovely memories of fishing off our boat for them when my kids were little. So sweet!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful!
DeleteI love fall hiking, Joanne. Your photos are beautiful. And, of course, it's always fun to see what you've been wearing and cooking. Here's to a wonderful October!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThose stuffed chickens sound so good! I love the turquoise linen pants too!
ReplyDeleteThose have been my favorite pants all summer long! They came in purple and pink too and I'm kind of wishing I had bought at least one other color. They are perfect for summer.
DeleteHi Joanne, as usual I love your hiking photos! Beautiful examples of nature at its finest! Speaking of hot weather - boy is it unseasonably hot today in Brisbane! It's supposed to be spring not summer (yet)! How fun to have visited a zoo. I always love visiting the zoo and seeing animals I don't usually get to see. My fav are orangutans - love them! Thank you for sharing with us at #WWWhimsy xo
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteI wished it was that warm here! I hope the concert was worth it!
ReplyDeleteThe concert absolutely was; it was incredible!
DeleteLovely nature photos and hope you enjoyed the concert!

Thank you! The concert was fabulous. I'll have a full recap of it up on the blog next week.
DeleteYour cooking looks fabulous! Whole chicken is so delicious. Seems like you've had some really good September weather (we did too). The perfect month for hiking! Are those trails close to you or do you need to drive to them?
ReplyDeleteMost trails we do drive to but are within a 30 minute drive.
DeleteYour meals look yummy! I am enjoying the outdoors a lot this week as our highs are not as high and the morning are starting to cool off! We are trying to plan more activities too and enjoy fall to the fullest.

We have two zoos about 30/45 minutes away so we don't get there often but we did learn that this particular zoo has baby red pandas that should be out and on display within another couple of weeks so we plan to go back one last time before it gets too cold.
DeleteI'm still wearing summer tops too: t-shirts. I add a little cardigan if it gets chilly.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I've been doing too.
DeleteWhat is the top animal? Red panda or sun bear? Gorgeous! #WWWHimsy
ReplyDeleteOh you had to ask... I could not for the life of me remember what it was but I did look it up on the zoo's website. It's a Bolivian Gray Titi Monkey.
DeleteWow, still so warm! We are so heading into fall here (not complaining, this is totally my weather). We had one day in the low 70s, but with a lot of rain.
ReplyDeleteWe should be well into fall by now but for some reason our weather is just not cooperating. It's so odd... it was in the 80's again today even. Though it looks like we might have some weather in the 60's next week. That is far more normal for fall in Connecticut.
DeleteLovely outfits, my favourite is the jumpsuit. Also the food looks and sounds delicious. Thanks for joining me today. I’ll look forward to you stopping by again x Jacqui/Mummabstylish
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love a good jumpsuit.
DeleteLove the zoo photos! It's been much too long since we've been to the zoo. All your meals look delicious - I'm imaginging what the chicken looked and tasted like once it was cooked. haha Just now getting around to visiting some of my "currently" friends - hope you're having a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWhat a great currently. I always enjoy seeing what you're up to.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing with Sweet Tea & Friends this month dear friend.
Thank you!
