Currently... October 2025

It's the first Wednesday of the month so it's time for the Currently link up with Jenn. The prompts for October are loving, anticipating, looking forward to, wearing, and cooking.


 Loving: This time of year I love our hikes and seeing all the pretty leaves. 


Evan and I had a fabulous morning at the zoo. I loved seeing all the animals out enjoying our nice weather too.


 

Anticipating:I am anticipating sleep in this morning. Evan and I went to a concert last night; it was at a new (to us) concert venue. It was an indoor/outdoor venue and we were encouraged to get there super early for parking. Think 4 pm for an 8 pm show! We anticipated large crowds and not getting home until the wee hours of this morning since the venue is easily an hour away and we heard traffic afterwards could be brutal. BUT since I was anticipating having a wonderful time at the show I tried to just focus on the band/music/performance and block all the rest of it out. 

Looking forward to: We have a fun month ahead with my husband's birthday dinner, a few fishing trips for my husband and oldest son, a couple of shows for Alec & I, both Alec and Evan are starting new jobs, it should be a great month for everyone. 

Wearing: It was 80 here on Monday and Tuesday-- 80! Mostly I'm still wearing summer tops mixed in with capri pants, linen pants, and lightweight fabrics or the occasional jumpsuit.

Cooking: I made corn fritters, sausage/onions/peppers one night. 

I cooked up some whole chickens the other night with broccoli and squash casserole but the only photo I have is of the raw chickens! 

stuffed them with apples and lemons and seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and rosemary. They were SO tender!

    Everything that you´ve made looks so good! That´s great that your weather has been so good and you´ve been able to get out and enjoy the pretty views.

    Your food looks good! I am not afraid to see raw chicken! I want to make a crockpot roast and the roast at Kroger is $33! I think I am going to do it with stew meat which is about $11. Darn these grocery prices!

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Alec's Accepted Student Day at JWU

Last spring when Alec started his college planning I was pretty surprised that he only wanted to visit 2 colleges out of state (he visited a few in-state with his high school culinary class).  He ultimately decided to apply to just the 2 colleges we visited-- Johnson and Wales University (JWU) and the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). Both ranked as the #1 & #2 schools in the U.S for culinary and baking/pastry arts. Funny enough out of his 2 culinary teachers he's had in high school one attended each of those schools!  Photo of harborside campus from last spring JWU Future wildcat photo also from last spring Visiting the CIA over the summer We were lucky that both schools are easily visited in a day and we had a great time touring them both. Alec made sure to ask lots and lots of questions. Prime Purchases in August

I've been pretty pleased with myself and how little we've been using Amazon. Since we got rid of Prime in December I am definitely waiting until I have a large enough order to qualify for free shipping and usually only for items I can't find around town. So I've only place one order in July and 2 in August!  I won a $50 gift card (thank you Billie Jo!)  plus I found an old gift card from a Christmas or two ago and decided to splurge on a few items for our hiking trip. Since I never shared the few items I bought in July either I thought I'd add those to today's post. All in all for 2 months worth of shopping I think I did really great!    In July I bought a refill of this toothpaste; I just love it.    and I bought myself a new activity tracker when my broke while birthday shopping with my mom. Share 4 Somethings in September

Since the last Saturday of the month is tomorrow it's just about time for Share 4 Somethings with Jenn. As always we're sharing some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of .  Some things I've loved:  We obviously LOVED our trip to Glacier National Park since I can't seem to stop talking about it or showing everyone our photos.... sorry, not sorry.       I loved seeing this guy leave childhood behind! There is something very bittersweet about seeing your youngest become an official adult.    I have loved our weather-- it has been a bit warmer than we usually see in September but it's been so clear and perfect for hiking.      Some things I've learned:  Oh so much! Alec and even Ian sort of fell into their first jobs so filling out online applications with Evan was eye-opening and oh so frustrating but we learned a lot.
