What's Up Wednesday in September (2025)

It's the last Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for What's Up Wednesday. I feel like I have been struggling to play catch up ever since we went on vacation at the beginning of the month. It's been quite busy but I am not complaining.

What We're Eating: I've been trying to be SO good ever since we got back from our trip (it's worked too as I've shed 4 lbs!). I've been eating lots of meals like this:

I made and egg sandwich with lettuce and tomato for a late breakfast one day and didn't even need to eat lunch; I was still full!

I've been eating lots of veggie and hummus plates; sometimes with pretzels, sometimes with almond crackers, sometimes with homemade pita chips.

I tend to have fruit/yogurt/granola at least once a day; but I happily eat it for any of the 3 main meals. It's often my "go to" dinner when I don't like what the rest of the family is eating... like sloppy joes.

I made a dairy free stuffed pepper dish for dinner one night. I ate one pepper with a side salad and it kept me full until morning.

I also made our amped up version of egg roll in a bowl. I like to add pineapple and pea pods, mushrooms or even carrots... it's delicious!

What I'm Reminiscing About: And just like that my youngest turned 18! No more babies, no more kids.. I am now the parent of 3 young adults. And yet sometimes I feel like these days were just yesterday!

Evan as a baby and with this 2 older brothers..

What I'm Loving: I am still just in awe of all the beautiful photos I took in Glacier; now that is not tooting my own horn. Glacier is just SO beautiful it's actually isn't that hard to get great photos. And yet oddly the photos hardly do it justice! I'm sure regular readers are getting sick of them by now but I just don't care. LOL

What We've Been Up To: Other than our trip I don't feel like we've done much this month. Evan and I started school, we've been on a few hikes, we celebrated his 18th birthday.

What I'm Dreading: Since Alec has the boys' car at school Evan and will be sharing a car.. I'm not dreading it much but I know there will be times when it's going to be tough sharing one.

What I'm Working On: Evan and I spent a week filling out job application and now we've turned our attention to filling out college applications!

What I'm Excited About:  We have so much fun stuff on our calendar these next few months. I can't wait!

What I'm Watching/Reading: Limitless with Chris Hemsworth (Hulu), We Were Liars (Prime)-- I really enjoyed this one, Find Me Falling (Netflix), The Wilds (Prime),  Thunderbolts (Disney), Thursday Murder Club (Netflix)-- This one was a lot of fun!, The Ledge (I have no idea what we watched this one; my husband started it), Longmire (Paramount +), The Descendants (HBO Max), Moving On (Netflix)-- It felt vaguely familiar the whole time so I think I've seen this before, latest season of Only Murders in the Building (Hulu), Great British Baking Show Season 16 (Netflix), High Potential (season 2 on Hulu), No Hard Feelings (regular TV in Montana), MIB International (regular TV in Montana), I'm sure there was more but that's all I can remember.

I barely managed to read/listen to 10 books this month!

What I'm Listening to: The 21 Pilots latest album; Breach. So far my favorite is Robot Voices. We're heading to the concert soon and I hope to have some/most of the songs memorized by then.

What I'm Wearing: Lots of lightweight pants/capri pants with mostly short sleeves as our weather is cool in the mornings and quite warm by the afternoon.

What I'm Doing This Weekend: Possibly heading to our library's tag sale; townspeople donate books, puzzles and moves then they're sold for just a few dollars each to raise money for the library.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month: Alec and I have tickets to both the musical Six and to an immersive Monet Exhibit.

What Else is New: Evan went on his first job interview and got a job offer working at Michael's craft store.

  2. It sounds like a good and memorable month. Welcome to the young adult parents club :). Great throwback pics and current pictures of your trip to Glacier. I´m sure your photos convinced someone to make a trip out there! Sometimes you never really know how pretty a place is- you hear about it but you don´t until you encounter someone who has been there with pictures, it´s just a vague notion.

    1. Aw, thank you! They actually did; I had one reader tell me her and her husband are booking a trip there because he happened to see my photos while she was reading my post.

  3. Congrats on Evan's job offer and maybe you can benefit from the discount! Lol! I wasn't impressed with the Van Gogh but I think it varied by city and maybe my city didn't do as good of a job so let us know! Also, what did you think of Atmosphere?

    1. I told him he's all set for me for Christmas; I'll give him a big list! I enjoyed Atmosphere a lot. I've always been fascinated by the space program.

  5. Such beautiful pictures from your vacation! Isn't it strange when you realize you're no longer parenting "kids"? I love all your outfits and those food pics at the top all look incredible. Happy Wednesday, friend!

  8. You should totally toot your own horn, those photos are fantastic...and oh, that job sounds dangerous. I'd be spending more than he's making due to that discount! Haha

    1. Aw, thank you! I'm hopeful he holds me back... he tends to be shy and I can see him being horrified of me trying to commandeer his discount.

  9. Will you come be my personal chef? All your food always looks so fresh and delicious! Welcome to the parenting young adult club. Did you use your camera or phone to take the GNP photos...so pretty!

    1. Aw, that is so sweet to hear... though I do sometimes get real sick of cooking. Funny story; I brought my camera to GNP and only managed to take a handful of photos before it started malfunctioning and stopped working. SO pretty much all the photos were taken with my phone.

  10. Well done with the weight loss, especially since you've been away. The food you eat always looks so good!
Happy birthday to Evan! It feels so strange having young adults doesn't it! I still can't get my head around the fact that my youngest is an adult and not a child.
I hope the car sharing works out OK and good luck to Evan with the applications.

  11. Those reflective lake shots are superb! I loved Six - so clever, fun and uplifting. I went to see 21 Pilots before they became huge - I flew to Melbourne to see them with one of the kids. All the young people were up the front and all the parents were at the back- it was hilarious. I was chatting to a dad who kept saying 'do you think they're ok?' Given the whole crowd seemed to have massive anxiety, the answer was yes! Some kids had to leave before they even came on cos they couldn't deal with it. It was a real eye openner for me (not to be dismissive of the extent some people suffer from social anxiety.)

    1. Aw, thanks! We saw 21 Pilots last fall and had a great time. I enjoy their music too so it's one concert I'm happy to accompany Evan to.

Stuffed peppers.Yes, that's what I need to make... But rob said, I can't turn the oven on until it's under ninety.

    1. I hadn't heard of it either but Alec brought it to my attention; he knew most of the story line already and really wanted to see it. Can you make stuffed peppers in the crock pot?

  14. Hi Joanne, congrats on the weight loss! I'm doing the same thing. I lived it up a bit too much in Melbourne and came back feeling bloated & blah. So I'm exercising more and eating healthier and minus snacks. In the first week I lost 900g (just short of 1 kg) and am feeling much better already. The photos you took at Glacier National Park are stunning! Look at the horns on that deer too! Thank you for linking up & sharing with us at #WWWhimsy xo
