Prime Purchases in August
I've been pretty pleased with myself and how little we've been using Amazon. Since we got rid of Prime in December I am definitely waiting until I have a large enough order to qualify for free shipping and usually only for items I can't find around town. So I've only place one order in July and 2 in August!
I won a $50 gift card (thank you Billie Jo!) plus I found an old gift card from a Christmas or two ago and decided to splurge on a few items for our hiking trip. Since I never shared the few items I bought in July either I thought I'd add those to today's post. All in all for 2 months worth of shopping I think I did really great!
In July I bought a refill of this toothpaste; I just love it.
The first order I placed in August was for some more of these strapless bras; they're my favorite!
This jar to hold the dishwasher detergent tabs on our countertop. It's a bit smaller than what I wanted but I just couldn't resist the pretty color and design.
A new grill brush & a meat thermometer (weirdly with all the fall stuff hitting stores I could NOT find either of these locally!).
The second order was much larger and more "fun"
I did have to buy Alec a new lanyard for his college ID and found this three pack for under $5!
Several months ago I had bought a set of gold piercing studs for the 2nd and 3rd holes in my ears that had been closing up. They've worked great but I found I was wearing a lot of silver this summer and my holes were closing up again from lack of use so I bought this silver set.
I needed a new clear top coat of polish and this is my favorite one; and for whatever reason our local stores seem to be out of it/not carry it?
Not knowing the weather I was looking for some water resistant hiking pants and found this pair that can also roll to be capri pants; I loved them but the size I ordered them in didn't fit and I didn't have time to replace/reorder them before we left so I just returned them.
I found this pretty sweater and just couldn't resist.
Finally I bought these rain pants; I love that they fold up so nice and tiny to fit in my backpack and they are such a great deal. I tried on a tons of pairs of waterproof hiking pants in all sorts of outdoor stores when we were in Acadia and most of them were upwards of $99; these are just $26! I'm hoping not to need them at all but every guidebook cautions being over prepared since temps and weather on the mountain can vary greatly throughout the day.

I can see the stores not having "summer" items like the thermometer and brush (though one can certainly grill throughout the fall...) since they seem to clearance out those items for the "fall" type items. It is nice to have online options like Amazon for those types of purchases! Have a great Monday!

DeleteI just said to my hubs yesterday, 'let's not buy anything in September' lol. I mean there are three birthdays so it won't be nothing, but I meant nothing we don't actually need but are swayed by ads to purchase. It's so easy to buy without giving it much thought. Enjoy your week!

DeleteI used to buy those earrings for my daughter when she was young. The backs are hard enough to remove so they never just fell out of her ears. I would smooth out the pointy backs for her with a nail file.

DeleteYou've done really well. That's why I don't have Prime. I'd have a shipment every day! I have had my ears pierced for decades, but if I don't put earrings in at least once a week, they'll start to close up. I really want a third piercing, too! Your trip is going to be so wonderful...I'm jealous!

I ended up with a third hole on one side sort of by default. When my older sister was in high school she wanted one piercing up at the top of her ear for a cuff and the piercing place asked if anyone else wanted to use the second piercing since it was already paid for so I figured why not?

DeleteI never had Prime and about two and a half months ago I decided I don't want to buy on Amazon at all anymore if it's something I can get elsewhere, like English DVDs for example. I managed to keep it down to three orders since then for myself, but I did order a few things for a family member who doesn't have Amazon. It's definitely more work!
ReplyDeleteThe earrings you got look exactly like the very first studs I got with my ear piercing when I was 13. I even still have one of them (in light blue).
It really is hard to reframe our thinking/shopping habits. We too are trying not buy on Amazon if we can help it.
