Utah's National Parks Trip: Day 3 (Arches)
Monday, our 3rd day in Utah, we headed out to Arches National Park nice and early. In fact I think we were through the gate by 7:15 or so after taking a quick photo by the park sign. It's a very dramatic entrance to the park with switchbacks and high cliff walls and as soon as you turn the last corner all signs of civilization fall away. It was stunning. I don't think you can see it but there is a car where the light colored rock meets up against the dark- that's the road We drove straight to the very back of the park to an area known as Devil's Garden. We only hiked part of the trail though. tunnel arch The weather was perfect, sunny but cool and breezy. We saw a deer, a hummingbird, a blue bird, and some beetles and ants. landscape arch longest arch in America at 306 feet opening; 6 feet in diameter at its narrowest point This is the point we turned around; I refused to climb up the top part of this trail on my hands and knees ...

Wow, that is one big bear! We don't have those in the Netherlands.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any in CT either so I like to pretend we don't have them either... though I have heard from neighbors that they've spotted them a time or two.
DeleteGlad you are having great weather. So are we, low humidity and not super high temps. Quite uncommon and lovely for August!
ReplyDeleteThat's what we're all saying too!
DeleteIsn’t the weather fabulous! This is what summer is suppose to feel like! Hope you get out there and enjoy it with your family.
ReplyDeleteThanks always for hosting such a fun party!
Thank you; yesterday we went to the botanical gardens, today we went kayaking... we are definitely making the most of the nice weather.
DeleteWe had nice weather too, except ours was in the 70's all week and we loved it. It was a nice reprieve from the heat, but I hear the heats coming back later this week. Thanks for the party.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteThis IS a beautiful week! The birds outside my windows are going crazy with happiness.
ReplyDeleteOurs seem surprisingly quiet lately but we've seen all sorts of other wildlife-- turkeys, deer, bunnies galore and even an owl!
DeleteWe've had such beautiful weather this week. I don't want it to end. Thanks for hosting Joanne!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind it sticking around for a bit longer either!
DeleteThat black bear brought back memories of living on the WA peninsula! Thanks for the visit and the link-up, have a wonderful week ahead!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie. I wish the same of you (to you?).
DeleteIt´s nice that you have beautiful and warm weather....here summer has taken a break...but it should come back these days...I am looking forward to go out again in summer outfits. Have a nice August and all the best
ReplyDeleteVioletta
Thank you! Luckily it's still warm enough for summer clothes--- I have so many there are still a few outfits I haven't worn yet!

DeleteHi Joanne and Happy Aug. to you. Having a fresh month makes me happy as does visiting with you and the otheres at party#82. My shares this time are #64 thru 66. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to know visiting with us makes you happy! Having everyone link up makes me happy too.
DeleteOh boy, as black bear! Beautiful but scary...I'm off to read about it! Thanks for the party!
ReplyDeleteRight?! I like seeing them but I want them to keep their distance!
DeleteWe have had gorgeous weather as well!!! I'm so happy to be in the 80s and I never thought I would say that, but after weeks of high 90s I'm so ready for cooler weather! Thank you so much for hosting! I'm excited to jump in!
ReplyDeleteUs too for sure! It makes the 80's feel downright cool.
DeleteThat bear!! Oh my!
ReplyDeleteYep, that must have been alarming to see on the porch!
DeleteThat's so funny that my bear post was a popular one. I wish I had really been able to get a photo of that bear! I mean it was really probably that big but sitting on it's butt on my porch! lol!
ReplyDeleteNature is so fickle when it comes to photos. My boys joke that animals don't like me because they always move just as I'm clicking the shutter button and I'm left with an empty frame.
DeleteWe had some weather in the 60s and 70s earlier this week! It was wonderful!

ReplyDeleteWe have had a great week so far, thank you!
DeleteKayaking and hiking sounds so fun and then ice cream..perfect! Thanks for hosting, Joanne and have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kitty!
DeleteI would pass out if I saw a bear on my porch. Not great survival instincts. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI always say I love to see wildlife but the bigger they are the further away I'd like them to be-- I'm perfectly content to get a photo and then have to zoom in!
DeleteHey Joanne, Thanks so much for sharing Talking About It Tuesday with Sweet Tea & Friends.
ReplyDeleteSending have a great week wishes your way.
Thank you!
