Fasion Files; My Birthday Clothes

Since Amy asked, I thought I'd share my shopping haul. When I went shopping with my mom I had two items in mind that I was hoping to find: some white shorts and a pair of white linen pants. I didn't find white linen pants but I did find some shorts and lots of other great pieces I had no idea I was looking for!

Everything came from 3 stores: Talbots, White House Black Market, and Loft. 

Mostly I bought pants and shorts as I have plenty of summer tops already. I bought these casual white shorts at Talbots. They remind me of a thin sweatshirt material and they are oh so comfy!  

 

I also found these teal capri pants; they are a similar weight and style to the shorts and I liked them so much I went and found them in white too!

 The pink sweater above was from White House Black Market along with these dressier white shorts. 

You can't really see but underneath that pink sweater above is a tank with spaghetti straps; Loft was having a 3 for $20 sale so I bought the tank in white, black, and a smoky blue color. They are very form fitting so I don't wear them alone but both the black and white work so well with this tropical jumpsuit I picked up in Hawaii that I really NEED something underneath. 


I also picked out these navy gauze pants.


 These maroon/brown gauze shorts were so comfy that I couldn't resist and the white top Evan picked out for me goes perfectly with them.


And this green tank top (that just happened to match perfectly with the sunflower pants that Ian bought for me!).

    Thank you! Thank you! Wow - you did really well. I think those stores are good quality, too. You were smart about what you needed to make outfits. I think my favorites are the white and turquoise pants and the navy pants. You are set!

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. What's Up Wednesday in July 2025

It's the last Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for What's Up Wednesday.  What We're Eating:   Sunday:  Smoked turkey breasts with rice and summer squash casserole. Monday:  Grilled steak, broccoli, and egg noodles (leftover squash casserole for me) Tuesday:  Quick and simple taco salad /plain tacos for the boys. Wednesday:   A new recipe I'm making-- pulled pork pizzas with salad.  Thursday:  Pasta Primavera-- we like this recipe. I'll heat up sauce for the boys who will end up eating plain pasta and sauce but we'll have a salad to go with it.  Friday: Shrimp and chicken kabobs over rice with corn on the cob. Favorites and Highlights One Sentence a Day in July 2025

I feel like July sped by in a blur and yet weirdly I also feel like the 4th of July was so long ago! We definitely tried to pack lots of summer fun into our weeks and make the most of our summer in between hiding out inside from some extreme heat waves and severe thunderstorms.  We've had so much fun and lots of good food this July so I can't complain.  1. So thankful that my mother in law was available for dinner at the last minute.  My mom and I went to yoga then Evan and I headed out hiking even though it was hot and muggy and threatening rain/thunderstorms but they never materialized until late that night. 12,304 steps.    2.  So thankful I finished my book just before we left!  Gym with my mom, then I spent most of my afternoon trying to finish up the book that was due back at the library in time for us to vote after dinner (our voting place is at our library-- also the budget did not pass for the 3rd time). 9,946 steps.       ...

Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Monthly Musings July 2025: How We Summer

 It's the last Thursday of the month and time for monthly musings with Holly and Patty.   1. My favorite thing about this summer including having my family so near; Alec is home from college so I have all 3 boys at home, my parents are up from North Carolina so I get to see my mom on a near daily basis. My brother and his family are living in my husband's family's campground just down the road so we see them often too!  2. I have eaten so many delicious things this summer but my favorites would include: Ice cream treats!   Fresh picked raspberries-- they were SO good!  We tried some new turkey burger recipes this summer that were SO good! One was apple maple mustard and the other was a Mediterranean burger with spinach and feta and onions.  Ian caught some fresh fish when he went deep sea fishing and we made some really delicious fish tacos one night.
