It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for the Currently link up with Jenn. This month we're talking about what we're currently loving, looking forward to, scheduling, buying, and gearing up for. I really struggled with these prompts this month!
Loving: Flirty/playful texts with my husband, a fun date night we had this past weekend.
Heading out with friends to see Back to the 80's-- it was such a fun soundtrack!
My mom, Alec and I spent most of the day Monday shopping and went out to lunch together. It was a fabulous day with lots of laughs.

Looking forward to: These views! (photos courtesy of Pixabay)
Scheduling: We scheduled 2 more college tours this month for Evan. We'll be checking out Bryant College and Dean college.
I went to Bryant University for a week long yearbook camp when I was a junior in high school.
And my mom is nearly 99% sure that Dean university was the college we all stayed overnight for a freshman orientation/accepted student weekend.. of sorts ALL those many years ago-- needless to say I didn't end up going there.
It's so funny to be checking out so many of these same colleges with Evan so many years later.. I must admit I don't recognize hardly any of them. We even toured my Alma mater and I only recognized a few select buildings.
Buying: Alec and I finished buying the stuff he wants/needs for the apartment kitchen. So far him and his friend are splitting things just between the two of them since the 3rd roommate they've managed to get a hold of sounds like she mostly wants to be left alone to do her own thing and none of the 3 have heard from the 4th roommate at all! Luckily all 3 are culinary or baking majors so he didn't need a ton of cooking stuff just a toaster, some pots and pans, some plates/bowls/ silverware.. Hopefully we're not adding much more to his pile since we barely fit everything in the car last year as it is!
We found a set of dishes online made out of plastic wheat straw that are dishwasher and microwave safe as well as non-breakable so I'm excited to see what they look like in person.
Gearing up for: It's still a month away but I'm gearing up for my trip to Glacier. I've started making lists galore. I started my packing list early and I'm making lists of trails, possible foods/places to eat, things to see and do that aren't IN the national park, things to do and see that ARE in the park. I do this for nearly every trip we go on and we usually end up doing very little of it and just winging it as we go but I still like to have the ideas to fall back on just in case.
Linking up with:
Oh your trip sounds wonderful already! Can't wait to follow along. I have heard great things about Bryant- can't wait to see where he decides to go :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think anything/any place will knock Clark out of his top choice slot but I'm hopeful he'll at least find a few back up possibilities just in case. Going from a school of 1-3 students makes any college seem quite large!
DeleteCan't wait to hear how much you loved Glacier! That's 80's show sounds like a fun time.

Thanks! I'm really excited and hoping that their wildfire season doesn't impact our trip. That 80's show had lots of fun songs and so many references to whole era that made it a lot of fun.
DeleteYour trip sounds great! Your day of shopping sounds nice plus all of the college tours with Evan. You've got lots of good going on :).
ReplyDeleteWe definitely do!
DeleteJoanne is getting spicy with her texts! I love that. I am glad you had a date night! We have hardly had any this summer. It's just been so weird! This is Tom's busy season at work so that is part of it.
ReplyDeleteCollege visits can be so fun!
That is funny that one roommate is MIA. I hope it works out ok. And, that's good to know that the other one wants to do their own thing. I bet the two of them will have some great meals!
I was really surprised that he suggested it out of the blue; I'm typically the one to nudge about date nights out. Spring and summer is Ben's busiest season too and working outside all day he's often just wiped out by the heat and sun.
DeleteMy friend and her family just got back from Glacier and they LOVED it. You are in for a treat! I can't wait to hear all about it!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait!! It looks SO beautiful in photos. I was hoping to run on the treadmill more and work up my stamina/ lungs for the extra elevation but I'm still battle hip and knee pain so we've realized we may need to adjust our plans while there but I'm sure we'll still have a fabulous time no matter what.
DeleteWe visited my alma mater with my kids and it brought back lots of memories!
ReplyDeleteI think it sounds awful to admit but I really don't have that many memories of college! I showed up, went to class, went home... it was a pretty lonely version of high school; but I think that's part of being a commuter that lived nearly 40+ minutes away!
DeleteCollege visits - how fun! Such an exciting time.
ReplyDeleteI would be looking forward to those views as well! Beautiful
It has been a fun time; I'm enjoying all these college tours and seeing the possibilities.
DeleteI really want to go to Glacier one day! The views look absolutely breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteThey really do! I'm hoping it lives up to my very high expectations. LOL
DeleteI love your answer to “Loving” (the flirty texts). So sweet and I couldn’t agree more! I hope the college tours goes well and that he find his new “college home” soon. I can’t wait to read all about your trip to Glacier!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteIt's funny how our college changes over time, and we only remember an inkling of it. We went back years ago, and it was crazy, so I know how you feel,
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Jodie
There were all these new buildings and two huge parking garages... all the building I did remember were GONE!
DeleteCollege visits...that will be us this year. Ella is going to community college next fall, so we are doing four year visits this year. I can't believe we are here again. It seems like yesterday we were doing this with Anna. 💜
ReplyDeleteIt comes so fast doesn't it?
DeleteIts so sweet that you and your hubby remember to date! So many people forget that you're supposed to still date after you get married, and have been married for years! Your dinner at Longhorn looks delicious, we've been in a seafood kick so we haven't had a good steak in a long time! I hope your son finds the perfect fit in school! I hope you have an amazing trip!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteMy youngest attended the university where I got my Master's. We only went on a few college visits as my kids made up their minds pretty quickly. I can't wait to read your posts about Glacier National Park! It's on my bucket list.

Alec only had 2 on his list so we he was real quick and decisive. Evan knows what he wants and can immediately tell if the college is a yes or a no... but most of them have been no!
DeleteOur travel planning sounds similar - I love making a big google doc with all the ideas/places.
ReplyDeleteI tend to especially plan more than usual with National Park visits and keep the in paper form with me while in the parks since cell service is usually pretty non-existent and nature can be quite unpredictable. Sometimes those trails we want are closed and we have to pivot real quick.
DeleteI can't wait to see the pics of the Glacier. In Svalbard we went into an ice cave which was amazing but the glaciers were covered in Snow so you couldn't really see them....How exciting!

ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, your upcoming trip sounds very exciting! I look forward to the pictures! I imagine there will be some amazing hiking tracks. Fun times touring colleges/universities with your son. The dishes/cup set you've purchased online sounds & looks perfect! Thanks for sharing with us at #WWWhimsy ! xo
ReplyDeleteI love that you mentioned flirty texts : ) It's often the little things that help keep a marriage strong. I will be curious to hear about the dishes. You've got a great trip ahead and I'll look forward to following along. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat an air of excitement and anticipation ahead. I too enjoyed making the plans before travelling..added to the fun. I am sending my best to you for your planned get away and that college stuff settles too. Denyse x
