Talking About it Tuesdays #77

Happy first day of July! I hope the start of a new month finds you all well and anticipating lots of good things (or perhaps just some quiet/relaxing time too!). We're gearing up for the 4th of July weekend here in the states and at the lake that is usually a very, very busy weekend filled with boat parades, fireworks shows, and lots and lots of cookouts everywhere you look.

      Well, we actually don't host the 4th of July party but many of my husband's family members live along the same lake so we go to his family's cottage.

    I'm excited to be home for 4th of July this year (last year I was on a flight to India). I bet the lake gets so busy but it sounds fun too!

      OH yes, the lake gets so busy! When the boys were younger we actually never took them boating on the weekend of the 4th because it was just insane with boats and jet skis and kayakers.

    I am excited to be off this year for the 4th. This Summer has been amazing for me. Since I started working from home, I feel like a new person. I hope you have an amazing 4th, sounds like it's going to be a blast!

      Wow! That is a full house. Luckily the cottage we go to is the family cottage so no one really lives there and no one is really in charge. We all bring food, we all clean up, we all go home at the end of the night... usually to return and eat leftovers the next day.

    Sounds so fun! July will actually be pretty full for me! We are celebrating Independence Day this weekend as a family, then going to a family reunion next week. After that, I'm traveling to a Forever Ambassador Conference followed by family birthday celebrations and then a religious conference. I'm looking forward to all of it, but it's basically taking up the whole month. Whew! Thanks for hosting this great linkup.     I had the best sleep I had in weeks last night and we started July with an afternoon at the pool. So happy for a good start of the month. We will have a pre 4th of July get together with my parents on Thursday and a low key 4th. Trying to stay cool!

    You will have fun at the lake for the 4th. I would like to see a boat parade! Are they all decked out red, white and blue? We will meet at my folks house, grill hamburgers and make homemade ice cream. Hoping you have a blast on the 4th!

      Most of the boats decorating with flags galore and have all sorts of balloons and streamers and things all in red, white, and blue. Plus they play loud patriotic music too. Homemade ice cream sounds so delicious!

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Share 4 Somethings in June 2025

Since the last Saturday of the month is tomorrow it's just about time for Share 4 Somethings with Jenn. As always we're sharing some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of .  Some things I've loved:  I LOVED our trip to Maine! Acadia is just so beautiful and we had such perfect weather too.   I've LOVED having my brother and his family so close this month; they moved into the campground near our house this summer and it's fun spotting them randomly on our road. I LOVED getting to spent the afternoon in Newport with Dara (Not in Jersey blog) and her family. They are the sweetest, nicest people!    I LOVED the last minute date night my husband and I planned this past weekend. We got dressed and headed to Foxwoods to try one of their steak houses. Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. What I Read in June & Share Your Shelf #15

It's the first Thursday of the month and time for Share Your Shelf with  Marilyn,   Jennifer,   Tanya,  and I. This post and link up are dedicated solely to books and book reviews and it's one I look so forward to each and every month. I am always looking for new and more book ideas. I came home from Acadia to find that 8 of the books I had requested through our local library came in all at once; I struggled to get them read as well as the Netgalley books I had downloaded, the 3 books I bought on vacation, and the myriad books I already had lying around the house. Obviously, I couldn't read them ALL but I think I did a pretty decent job chipping steadily away at the pile. I managed to read 14 books in all this month and I enjoyed so many of them so much. You know it's a good month when I couldn't possibly pick a favorite!    1. Currently in July 2025

It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for the currently link up with Jenn. In July we're talking about what we're currently loving, savoring, celebrating, remembering, and trying.  Loving:  Linen! Linen and gauze are my two favorite summer fabrics but this summer in particular I have so many linen pieces I am just LOVING. I got these aqua linen pants in my stitch fix box and I wear them pretty much any time they are clean. I love the color!    I also found these adorable linen blend harem pants on the Old Navy site as I was trying to order another pair of wide leg black linen pants (since mine have a tiny pinhole starting on the leg) and I just love the style so much. I thought the tie around the ankle would drive me nuts like joggers do but they never rode up on my leg once all day.   I haven't had a pair of tan linen pants in years since I'm pretty picky about them; I don't like them lined but I don't want to them to be see through either but I f...
