Utah's National Parks Trip: Day 3 (Arches)
Monday, our 3rd day in Utah, we headed out to Arches National Park nice and early. In fact I think we were through the gate by 7:15 or so after taking a quick photo by the park sign. It's a very dramatic entrance to the park with switchbacks and high cliff walls and as soon as you turn the last corner all signs of civilization fall away. It was stunning. I don't think you can see it but there is a car where the light colored rock meets up against the dark- that's the road We drove straight to the very back of the park to an area known as Devil's Garden. We only hiked part of the trail though. tunnel arch The weather was perfect, sunny but cool and breezy. We saw a deer, a hummingbird, a blue bird, and some beetles and ants. landscape arch longest arch in America at 306 feet opening; 6 feet in diameter at its narrowest point This is the point we turned around; I refused to climb up the top part of this trail on my hands and knees ...

Wow! It sounds like your house is the place to be for the 4th of July! Thanks for the party.
ReplyDeleteWell, we actually don't host the 4th of July party but many of my husband's family members live along the same lake so we go to his family's cottage.
DeleteI'm excited to be home for 4th of July this year (last year I was on a flight to India). I bet the lake gets so busy but it sounds fun too!
ReplyDeleteOH yes, the lake gets so busy! When the boys were younger we actually never took them boating on the weekend of the 4th because it was just insane with boats and jet skis and kayakers.
DeleteI hope your weather is good for the 4th. Ours is looking pretty good so far and we have fun plans (though they will be mostly inside so it doesn't really matter what the weather is!). Thanks for the link up!
ReplyDeleteSo far it's looking pretty good!
DeleteJoanne,

DeleteI am excited to be off this year for the 4th. This Summer has been amazing for me. Since I started working from home, I feel like a new person. I hope you have an amazing 4th, sounds like it's going to be a blast!
ReplyDeleteYay for having the 4th of July off this year!
DeleteIt's such a wonderful surprise to be featured on your Blog. It's always a pleasure to visit here so thanks so much for hosting each week.

You're welcome!
DeleteWe're also looking forward to the 4th at the lake! I think we will have 17 for the weekend! Busy but fun! Thanks, as always, for another wonderful party!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a full house. Luckily the cottage we go to is the family cottage so no one really lives there and no one is really in charge. We all bring food, we all clean up, we all go home at the end of the night... usually to return and eat leftovers the next day.
DeleteThanks Joanne for hosting Talking About it Tues. My shares this time are #39, 40, and 41. Wishing you a beautiful month of July and be well.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteThanks dear Joanne for featuring my blog. I appreciate that very much. On the 4th of July my son has his 40th birthday....but he is not willing to celebrate it ...LOL.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a wonderful July.
All the best
Violetta
OH I get that; I didn't want to celebrate my 30th! 40 I was just fine with. I hope he has a very happy birthday.

DeleteSounds so fun! July will actually be pretty full for me! We are celebrating Independence Day this weekend as a family, then going to a family reunion next week. After that, I'm traveling to a Forever Ambassador Conference followed by family birthday celebrations and then a religious conference. I'm looking forward to all of it, but it's basically taking up the whole month. Whew! Thanks for hosting this great linkup. I've left a couple of links and will visit others to leave some comment love. Happy 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteThat does sound like a very busy month but lots and lots of fun too.
DeleteOh that berry breakfast looks so good!! Happy 4th and thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't that look delicious?! My boys would devour that.
DeleteYes! We're celebrating the arrival of grandchild #8!
ReplyDeleteOh that is very exciting!
DeleteI hope to celebrate just surviving summer. That is all. I hope you have a nice Fourth!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I hope it doesn't get too hot for you.
DeleteI had the best sleep I had in weeks last night and we started July with an afternoon at the pool. So happy for a good start of the month. We will have a pre 4th of July get together with my parents on Thursday and a low key 4th. Trying to stay cool!

DeleteYou will have fun at the lake for the 4th. I would like to see a boat parade! Are they all decked out red, white and blue? We will meet at my folks house, grill hamburgers and make homemade ice cream. Hoping you have a blast on the 4th!
ReplyDeleteTake care and best wishes.
Most of the boats decorating with flags galore and have all sorts of balloons and streamers and things all in red, white, and blue. Plus they play loud patriotic music too. Homemade ice cream sounds so delicious!
