How to Beat the Heat with Ageless Style

It's the third Thursday of the month and time for another ageless style challenge. This month Amy picked beat the heat for our challenge.

 Typically I turn to sleeveless tops and shorts when it's real hot out. 

 

I love a good halter top with shorts and sandals! It's my favorite summer "go to" look.

    I like the look of halter tops but do not like having to wear strapless bras! You must have found a brand that you like and that holds things up well :). Your outfits are all so cute!

    I love all of your tops - so cute! This has been a weird summer here in Minnesota. It's either been humid and hot or cold and rainy. Yesterday it was 64 degrees in the middle of the day! I was in a sweatshirt because it felt so damp!

      I feel like ours has been like that too; either really hot and sunny or cloudy, rainy, and cool with not much in between. We've been in the midst of a heatwave this week but it's supposed to storm later today and break.

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. Our Favorites from the 4th of July Weekend: 2025

We had such perfect weather for our long 4th of July weekend and made lots of great memories too. Friday my husband was up early to smoke a couple of pork shoulders for his family's 4th of July party on the 5th. I headed to the grocery store to buy some fresh fruit then came home to cook up some new recipes. I was making a new turkey burger recipe for dinner and had some veggies from our farm box to use up so I whipped up a macaroni salad with fresh peas in it. We made a tossed salad and then I put together our lemon/blueberry ice box cake (also for the party on the 5th).  Ian was off with his great uncles for the day helping get set up and cleaned up for the family party so my husband and I went periodically to see if they wanted additional help. Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Share Our Lives: Our best Vacation Memories

This month for Share Our lives we're talking about our favorite vacation memory.. but there is no way I could share just 1! I tried asking the family but most of them had more than 1 favorite too!  Ian loved the fishing charter him and his father went on in Tampa Bay, Florida. Ian with the captain and the shark they caught later that same night with another fish Evan remembers the Guardians of the Galaxy ride in Disney as one of his favorite memories. (Sorry no photo!) As well as seeing the black sand beach on Hawaii and all of the photos he took there; he had a ball using the big Cannon camera with the multiple lenses and getting to see so much unique nature that we don't have around here.  My husband remembers watching the boys fight Darth Vader at Hollywood Studios; the camera man really got a great shot of Alec and his "mean" face. Oh my goodness! How are we already 1/2 way through the month of July?! I feel like this summer is flying by at warp speed. Even with some rainy days and big storms last week we still managed to have a great time. I enjoyed having an excuse to stay inside and read without guilt for a couple of days.  I've been dividing my day between reading books and reading lots of wonderful blogs too.
