Throwback Tuesday: 12 Quotes About Spatial Thinking

Image
*Originally posted June 4, 2013 when my boys were 5, 7, & 9.  We went to the Children's Museum and I was reminded of how much kids learn through play.  The museum has quotes featured throughout that once again reaffirmed my decision to sit back and let learning happen rather than trying to force it so much. Today I focused on all the ways children develop spatial thinking. Spatial thinking is defined as the ability to picture an object, it's shape, size and space, in relation to other objects. It's used mainly in problem solving, math and science but is so useful in life too.  Children develop spatial thinking through block play and manipulation of objects; something my boys enjoy tremendously! Just observing my children and the look of total concentration plastered on their faces most of the day, I knew learning was happening. Ian spent almost 30 minutes working with Jovo Blocks while his brothers explored the history of Rho...

Talking About it Tuesday #73

Hello on this first Tuesday in June! My husband and I took our middle son to Acadia this week (we offered but the other two didn't want to go so they're holding down the fort at home). I'll be home this weekend and will check out whatever you link up then.     We had a 7 way tie for most viewed right up until Friday morning! I wasn't sure what I was going to do with that so I'm glad we finally had 2 that struck out in the lead and stayed there until the party closed. I found a few new yummy recipes to try and am so inspired to travel; if only I could win the lottery (that I never play! LOL). I for sure would be traveling so much more if money wasn't an object. How about you? What is something you'd do more of if you had nearly unlimited funds?        The link with the most views from last week's party: We h...

Prime Purchases in May

This was a very busy month of Amazon purchases; between replacing some things for Alec's dorm next year, some needed graduation gifts (using Alec and his friends' favorite dorm room purchases)   Let's start with the grad gifts: I have a niece and nephew graduating this year so I bought pretty much 2 of everything: This multi outlet extension cord    These bedside caddies (Alec told me it was his most useful of all our purchases last year).    These dorm fridge storage organizers   This clip light    I'll turn these into gift baskets using the bedside caddy to hold the items, add in some fun/small things like chocolate candies, some string lights, our dorm packing list etc. Speaking of dorm rooms Alec needed some hangers for pants. I bought him this set    and this set (though I ended up keeping these for my skirts since his pants hung down too long on these).   We saw lots of people using these collapsible wagons to mov...
