Mother's Day Weekend Recap
With my Share Our Lives post on Monday and Talking About it Tuesday on Tuesday, today is my first chance to share about my weekend. It ended up being a pretty great weekend.
Our Mother's day celebrations started early with us taking both our moms (and my step father) to dinner on Friday night. Friday afternoon Evan took my cell phone and worked on making a few updates, getting some old apps that weren't working going, and organizing the layout of everything for me as his mother's day gift (since he has no job).
We made reservations at one of our favorite restaurants Bella's. It's a lovely little Italian restaurant where they make their food fresh and the owner is there to greet everyone and comes to check in with the different tables and make sure everything is delicious. It always is!
For whatever reason these photos uploaded backwards but I had a salad with house made dressing, the stuffed shrimp that came with potatoes and mixed vegetables and then ended the night with a delicious cheesecake that was made with brownie and caramel.
Saturday morning Alec took me out to breakfast. We went to Bill's Bread and Breakfast and I had a grilled pistachio muffin and a fruit cup. Bill's is known for their muffins and usually has at least a dozen varieties to pick from.
From there he drove me to the fair grounds where a local organization puts together an annual mother's day plant sale that he had heard about through his work. We had a great time checking out all the plants and things they had for sale and even managed to grab one of the very last hanging plants they had on display.

It was very crowded! |
I spent my afternoon reading, painting my nails, and crafting. I finished up four more Hawaii scrapbook pages and then went to see what my husband was working on in the blacksmith shop. He was finishing up my hummingbird feeder holder.
My husband installed my new hummingbird feeder holder. It's beautiful!

Evan asked to go hiking so my husband, Evan, and I headed out to Buffumville Dam for a lovely hike. The weather was just perfect. Of course, the trails were really wet (and a bit flooded) after all the rain we've been having but we managed to hike all around the lake.
We came home from our hike to find a few small gifts for me from my mother in law; she's been buying me a few little gifts each year ever since I had Ian.
I spent my afternoon crafting some more Hawaii pages until Ian asked us all if we wanted to help him get his jet ski out of storage and stop for some ice cream. The 4 of us piled into his truck (Alec was still at work).

I tried the butter pecan this time-- a butterscotch ice cream base with pecans in it. |
After the ice cream I finished laying out the dozen or so Hawaii scrapbook pages I had started to work on before the ice cream trip and before I knew it it was time for dinner. My husband made steaks on the grill and we had them with roasted potatoes and sauteed vegetables.
