What's Up Wednesday in April

It's the last Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for What's Up Wednesday. 

What We're Eating: I just got home from Kentucky on Monday night and today I'm heading to pick up Alec from college for the summer so it's been a lot of "fend for yourself" nights around here!  I did an awful job taking photos of my food on vacation too so I just have a couple meals to share.

What I'm Reminiscing About: How on Earth has this guy turned 21 this month?!



What I'm Loving: These ladies and I had the BEST time in Louisville this past weekend! I'll have a full recap up on the blog next week. 

 




 What We've Been Up To:  Evan and I have been out hiking and walking anytime it wasn't raining (or snowing) this month. We also had my brother's whole family over for dinner one night. We got Alec mostly packed up and spent an afternoon in Providence with him. But the highlight of the month was definitely being in Louisville for the girls' trip.

What I'm Dreading: I really, really need to tackle our flower gardens and get all the dead leaves, sticks, and weeds out there but it's such a big job that I dread it each spring.

What I'm Working On: I'm so close to fishing up our Hawaii scrapbook pages! But I may need to set them aside so I can work on some Mother's day stuff. (I shared all the cards and scrapbook pages I made this month on Monday)




What I'm Excited About: Alec comes home for the summer today. My parents have arrived from North Carolina and my brother is moving closer to us for the summer too!

What I'm Watching/Reading: The Resident (Netflix), North of North (Netflix), The Steve Harvey Show (Disney+), Better Call Saul (Netflix), Mid-Century Modern (Hulu), The Righteous Gemstones (Max)
 


I read 14 books this month! I'll have a full review of them all up tomorrow and also a link up for anyone that would like to share their books! 
 

 



What I'm Listening to: The laughter of my family-- isn't that the best sound?

What I'm Wearing: It was a cold and blustery month but mid way through it I gave up and started wearing some spring weight clothing anyway and just decided to be a bit cold.
 










 
 



 
What I'm Doing This Weekend: We're FINALLY going to celebrate Ian's 21st birthday with a small party; our schedule has been crazy busy.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month: Lots of time reading in the sun!!

    It is so much easier when everyone fends for themselves when life is busy!
    I had to Google what Bonuts were as they look amazing! What a fantastic idea! Yum!
    From what I've seen on other blogs it looks like all you ladies had a brilliant time in Louisville!

    Look at that adorable picture of your newborn son! The sweetest days and they are so fleeting. I've done a terrible job of snapping pictures lately. I need a new 'real' camera and my phone takes crummy pics so I'm not super motivated. How fun to have family all around you for the summer! That's so special. Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Share 4 Somethings in April 2025

Since the last Saturday of the month is tomorrow it's just about time for Share 4 Somethings with Jenn. As always we're sharing some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of .  Some things I've loved: We had my brother and his family over for dinner just for fun and to talk over some plans. It was so great to see everyone and we had such a delicious meal too (if I do say so myself; I went all out with homemade marinara, keto meatballs, fresh zoodles, 2 loaves of a whole wheat bread I experimented with, keto Italian dressing, brownies, etc).  The only 2 photos I thought to take! We had pasta and zoodles so I took a bit of both with my salad I also loved a couple of the hikes Evan and I tackled this month.  Some things I've learned: I've been learning a lot about Glacier National park in order to prep for a trip we're planning.  Some things that went well: We got a lot of Alec's stuff moved home though...

Monthly Musings in April

 It's the last Friday of the month and time for monthly musings with Patty and Holly. This month we have a wide range of topics we're covering.  1. We don't really celebrate Easter or any other holiday in spring anymore. We used to celebrate Easter when the boys were younger and actually at home. Alec stayed at college this year and Ian was off starting a new landscaping job so it felt just like any other day; which was weird.  I miss decorating eggs!   my brother in law used to host an outdoor egg hunt for our 5 kids that was so much fun sometimes the boys had another indoor egg hunt at my mom's or at our house They always had Easter baskets up until a few years ago too. 2. I do not plant a garden as I don't seem to be very good at growing things. I will try to grow a pot of basil again this year but that's about it.  3. Share Our Lives: How I Spend My Free Time

This month for Share Our lives we're sharing how we enjoy spending our free time and what creative outlets we use to have a bit of fun. With all older teens and young adults in the house I have lots and lots of free time.  I have so many creative outlets that I'm not sure I could even remember them all.    My top 5 include: card making   scrapbooking   painting:     I also love to put together puzzles:       I spend a lot of my free time reading (I even listen to audiobooks while making cards, scrapbooking or putting together puzzles).    I hope you'll join us next month when we all share how we celebrate/spend our birthdays!
